Where to Stay When Visiting Epic Universe
When you travel to Epic Universe, you're not locked into any one lodging option. There are three major options: On-site hotels, off-site hotels, and short-term vacation rentals. Read on to learn the advantages and disadvantages of each:
On-Site Hotels
Description: Universal provides access to hotels that are located on-property, including the Helios Grand, Stella Nova, and Terra Luna.
Pros: You can often get into the park early to avoid the crowds. You may also get a deal for Express Passes.
Cons: You'll have to pay for the convenience, and fit into a smaller space.
Off-Site Hotels
Description: Orlando is home to many hotel options that are within driving distance of the Epic Universe park.
Pros: These options are easier to afford and make it easier to do non-Universal activities.
Cons: You'll have a drive time (plus parking) to get to Epic Universe, and you'll be arriving later than the people who stayed on-site
Short-Term Vacation Rentals
Description: Smaller scale rentals, often of a room or house.
Pros: You can enjoy additional privacy, possibly get access to a kitchen, and often get the largest amount of space.
Cons: These can be inconsistent, and you likely won't receive the same level of service as you would at a hotel.

What length of time should you spend in Epic Universe?
The ideal length of time depends on what your goals are for the trip. If you only want to see your top attractions, you can probably do so in 1 day. To visit everything, you'll want at least 2 days in the park.
If you are spending a full week (or longer) in Orlando, that gives you time to explore Epic Universe completely and still check out some other local attractions.
What time of year should I visit Epic Universe?
There isn't one "best" time to visit Epic Universe, as it depends on your priorities. Regarding time of year, you'll want to think about crowds, special events, and deals.
Less popular times of year generally offer better promotions, and shorter wait times. Higher-demand periods are the reverse: More crowds and higher prices, but more special events and typically easier scheduling.
If you have the flexibility, you should also decide which day of the week best fits your needs. Sundays are generally the least crowded days, while Mondays tend to have the longest wait times – this is highly variable, though, and can be subject to the particulars of any given day.
Does the Epic Universe theme park allow you to bring in food?
As a general rule, you cannot bring food into Universal theme parks. There are a small number of exceptions, though: Park policy allows you to bring in up to 2 liters of bottled water, and food in limited circumstances (such as to accommodate dietary restrictions).
Coolers also face restrictions: Only a soft-sided cooler smaller than 8.5"x6"x6" is allowed. You can bring an empty, refillable water bottle, though.
Are there places to fill your water bottle at Epic Universe?
Yes! Epic Universe makes it easy to stay hydrated during your time in the park. If you remember your water bottle, there are several water refill stations scattered throughout the park.
If you don't have a water bottle, most of the park's dining locations will also have free water cups available.

You can bring a bag or backpack to Epic Universe. Just keep in mind that it will need to go through security.
One thing to consider is how big of a pack to bring with you. Because several of the rides don't allow packs, you'll want something that you can store in a locker if necessary. These lockers use photo validation technology to provide a seamless locker experience.
Is Epic Universe cash-free?
Epic Universe is not a cash-free park. While Universal's Volcano Bay went cashless in February of 2026, this has not yet extended to other parks at the resort.
The key thing to keep in mind is that ordering with cash may result in longer waits than ordering through the app, at least for food. The app makes it convenient to order your food early without waiting in line.
Should I arrive at the park before opening?
To avoid the lines as much as possible, try to be at the gates 30 minutes early. Generally, the park will open at 10:00 in the morning, while letting people with Early Park Admission in an hour early (the exact time can vary depending on the season).
When planning your schedule, don't forget to account for travel time and getting through security.
As soon as people get in, they tend to go to the most popular rides. There isn't one best way to handle the crowds: You can either try to get ahead of them, or look for attractions that aren't as busy.
