Where to Stay for Your Epic Universe Trip
When you travel to Epic Universe, you'll probably have to make a choice on where to stay, between three options: On-site hotels, off-site hotels, and short-term vacation rentals. Each has its own pros and cons, which we'll discuss below:
On-Site Hotels
Description: The Helios Grand, Stella Nova, and Terra Luna are hotel options on the Universal Studios Orlando property.
Pros: The travel time is next to zero, especially if you stay at the Helios Grand. Your stay might also come with Express Passes.
Cons: These tend to be more expensive options, and most rooms aren't very large.
Off-Site Hotels
Description: There are several off-site hotels in the Orlando area from popular chains available, ranging from budget to luxury.
Pros: Off-site hotels are often more affordable and give you easier access to the general Orlando area.
Cons: You'll have a drive time (plus parking) to get to Epic Universe, and you'll be arriving later than the people who stayed on-site
Short-Term Vacation Rentals
Description: Smaller scale rentals, often of a room or house.
Pros: If you care about privacy, this is often a way to get away from the crowds at hotels.
Cons: These can be inconsistent, and you likely won't receive the same level of service as you would at a hotel.

How long should an Epic Universe vacation be?
The ideal length of time depends on what your goals are for the trip. If you only want to see your top attractions, you can probably do so in 1 day. To visit everything, you'll want at least 2 days in the park.
Another popular option is to extend your trip for a full Universal Orlando vacation. Spending 5-6 days gives you enough time to explore all of the parks, and possibly some of the other parts of Orlando.
What time of year should I visit Epic Universe?
Different people will have different "best" times to visit Epic Universe. For seasons, you'll want to consider crowds, special events, and deals.
If your top priority is avoiding the crowds, look for low-demand time periods with better discounts. On the other hand, higher-demand seasons may have higher prices, but also more special events and (typically) easier scheduling.
You should also think about what day(s) of the week you want to visit. As a rule of thumb, Sundays are often the least crowded while Mondays are the most crowded – keep in mind, though, that these are variable and can be subject to weather, special events, and more.
What is the food policy at Epic Universe?
As a general rule, you cannot bring food into Universal theme parks. But there are a few instances where food and/or drink is permitted: Park policy allows you to bring in up to 2 liters of bottled water, and a small amount of food in specific circumstances (for example, carbohydrates for a diabetic).
If you are allowed to bring in food, you'll face restrictions on the size of your cooler as well (up to the size of 8.5"x6"x6" is allowed). Regardless of your food situation, you are allowed to bring in a refillable water bottle.
Is there free water available?
Yes! Epic Universe makes it easy to stay hydrated during your time in the park. If you remember your water bottle, there are several water refill stations scattered throughout the park.
But even if you don't have a water bottle, you don't have to be dehydrated. The dining areas around the park will give you free water cups.
are bags allowed inside of Epic Universe?
You can bring a bag or backpack to Epic Universe. Just keep in mind that it will need to go through security.
The main thing to keep in mind is what size backpack to bring – you'll likely have to store it in a short-term locker for some of the rides, so something smaller is generally better. These lockers use facial recognition technology as a locking mechanism.
Is Epic Universe cash-free?
Epic Universe is not a cash-free park. The only park that is currently cashless at Universal Orlando is Volcano Bay.
Some people still prefer to avoid cash in Epic Universe, particularly for food. The app allows you to order ahead of time and skip the line.
Should I arrive at the park before opening?
Ideally, you should arrive at Epic Universe at least half an hour before opening. Most days, that means arriving at 9:30 AM, or 8:30 AM if you have early admission (keep in mind that park hours are variable).
When planning your schedule, don't forget to account for travel time and getting through security.
As the park opens, the top attractions are most people's first stop. There are two general strategies parkgoers have: try to beat the crowd by rushing to your favorite ride, or visit less popular attractions and return to the others when the line is shorter.
