When you travel to Epic Universe, you're not locked into any one lodging option. There are three major options: On-site hotels, off-site hotels, and short-term vacation rentals. Read on to learn the advantages and disadvantages of each:
On-Site Hotels
Description: The Helios Grand, Stella Nova, and Terra Luna are hotel options on the Universal Studios Orlando property.
Pros: Because they are on-site, these options have the lowest travel time, and allow for early park admission. Your stay might also come with Express Passes.
Cons: You'll have to pay for the convenience, and fit into a smaller space.
Off-Site Hotels
Description: There are several off-site hotels in the Orlando area from popular chains available, ranging from budget to luxury.
Pros: Off-site hotels are often more affordable and give you easier access to the general Orlando area.
Cons: You'll have a drive time (plus parking) to get to Epic Universe, and you'll likely get less time in the park
Short-Term Vacation Rentals
Description: Temporary rentals from a property owner.
Pros: This is often the most spacious and personal option of where to stay.
Cons: These can be inconsistent, and you likely won't receive the same level of service as you would at a hotel.

How long should an Epic Universe vacation be?
If you want to fully explore Epic Universe, you should plan to spend at least 2 days in the park. If you're fine just visiting the highlights, you can explore it in 1 day.
Another popular option is to extend your trip for a full Universal Orlando vacation. Spending 5-6 days gives you enough time to explore all of the parks, and possibly some of the other parts of Orlando.
What time of year should I visit Epic Universe?
There isn't one "best" time to visit Epic Universe, as it depends on your priorities. Regarding time of year, you'll want to think about high volume areas, special events, and deals.
If your top priority is avoiding the crowds, look for low-demand time periods with better discounts. On the other hand, higher-demand seasons may have higher prices, but also more special events and (typically) easier scheduling.
If you have the flexibility, you should also decide which day of the week best fits your needs. Sundays are generally the least crowded days, while Mondays tend to have the longest wait times – keep in mind, though, that these are variable and can be subject to weather, special events, and more.
What is the food policy at Epic Universe?
Universal's official food policy generally does not allow you to bring in outside food or drinks, especially alcohol. That said, there are limited circumstances where you can: Park policy allows you to bring in up to 2 liters of bottled water, and a small amount of food in specific circumstances (for example, carbohydrates for a diabetic).
If you are allowed to bring in food, you'll face restrictions on the size of your cooler as well (up to the size of 8.5"x6"x6" is allowed). Regardless of your food situation, you are allowed to bring in a refillable water bottle.
Are there places to fill your water bottle at Epic Universe?
Yes! There are a variety of water bottle refilling stations available within Epic Universe, and they are free to use.
Water is also available for free if you don't have a water bottle – just ask at any of the restaurants.
are bags allowed inside of Epic Universe?
Bags and backpacks are allowed within Epic Universe. Don't forget that it will have to go through a security inspection prior to you entering the park.
The main thing to keep in mind is what size backpack to bring – you'll likely have to store it in a short-term locker for some of the rides, so something smaller is generally better. These lockers use photo validation technology as a locking mechanism.
Is Epic Universe cash-free?
Epic Universe is not a cash-free park. While Universal's Volcano Bay went cashless in February of 2026, this has not yet extended to other parks at the resort.
The key thing to keep in mind is that ordering with cash may result in longer waits than ordering through the app, at least for food. The app makes it convenient to order your food early without waiting in line.
When should you get to the park?
Ideally, you should arrive at Epic Universe at least half an hour before opening. The park formally opens around 10:00 AM, with Early Park Admission an hour beforehand (keep in mind that park hours are variable).
When planning your schedule, don't forget to account for travel time and getting through security.
