Lodging Options When Visiting Epic Universe
When you travel to Epic Universe, you'll probably have to make a choice on where to stay, between three options: On-site hotels, off-site hotels, and short-term vacation rentals. It's important to carefully consider your priorities and what will do the best job of giving you the experience you want:
On-Site Hotels
Description: Universal provides access to hotels that are located on-property, including the Helios Grand, Stella Nova, and Terra Luna.
Pros: You can often get into the park early to avoid the crowds. Your stay might also come with Express Passes.
Cons: These tend to be more expensive options, and most rooms aren't very large.
Off-Site Hotels
Description: Orlando is home to many hotel options that are within driving distance of the Epic Universe park.
Pros: Off-site hotels are often more affordable and give you easier access to the general Orlando area.
Cons: Travelling to Epic Universe will take longer, and you'll be arriving later than the people who stayed on-site
Short-Term Vacation Rentals
Description: Temporary rentals from a property owner.
Pros: You can enjoy additional privacy, possibly get access to a kitchen, and often get the largest amount of space.
Cons: These can be inconsistent, and you will be more responsible for maintaining the space.
Birmingham, AL, Epic Universe Vacation Planning FAQs
What length of time should you spend in Epic Universe?
The ideal length of time depends on what your goals are for the trip. If you only want to see your top attractions, you can probably do so in 1 day. To visit everything, you'll want at least 2 days in the park.
Another popular option is to extend your trip for a full Universal Orlando vacation. Spending 5-6 days gives you enough time to explore all of the parks, and possibly some of the other parts of Orlando.
How do I determine the right time for my Epic Universe vacation?
When you visit Epic Universe should reflect what you value most in your vacation. In a broad sense, you'll want to think about crowds, events, and available promotions.
Less popular times of year generally offer better promotions, and shorter wait times. On the other hand, higher-demand seasons may have higher prices, but also more special events and (typically) easier scheduling.
Different days of the week also offer different advantages and disadvantages. As a rule of thumb, Sundays are often the least crowded while Mondays are the most crowded – this is highly variable, though, and can be subject to the particulars of any given day.
What is the food policy at Epic Universe?
As a general rule, you cannot bring food into Universal theme parks. That said, there are limited circumstances where you can: Park policy allows you to bring in up to 2 liters of bottled water, and a small amount of food in specific circumstances (for example, carbohydrates for a diabetic).
Coolers also face restrictions: Only a soft-sided cooler smaller than 8.5"x6"x6" is allowed. You can bring an empty, refillable water bottle, though.
Can you get free water in the park?
Yes! Universal Orlando ensures water bottle refilling stations are widely available in its parks, and Epic Universe is no exception.
If you don't have a water bottle, most of the park's dining locations will also have free water cups available.
are bags allowed inside of Epic Universe?
You can bring a bag or backpack to Epic Universe. Just keep in mind that it will need to go through security.
Keep safety in mind, though – you'll have to store your backpack in a locker before going on some of the rides. These lockers use facial recognition technology to ensure each guest has access to their items.
Is Epic Universe cash-free?
Epic Universe is not a cash-free park. While Universal's Volcano Bay went cashless in February of 2026, this has not yet extended to other parks at the resort.
The key thing to keep in mind is that ordering with cash may result in longer waits than ordering through the app, at least for food. If you use the app, you can enter your order at any time and just pick it up when it's ready.
Should I arrive at the park before opening?
To avoid the lines as much as possible, try to be at the gates 30 minutes early. The park formally opens around 10:00 AM, with Early Park Admission an hour beforehand (the exact time can vary depending on the season).
Be sure to include extra time for transit and security.
Once the park opens, guests tend to rush the most popular rides like Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. There are two general strategies parkgoers have: try to beat the crowd by rushing to your favorite ride, or visit less popular attractions and return to the others when the line is shorter.
