Lodging Options for Your Epic Universe Trip
You have a few different options for where to stay when visiting Epic Universe: On-site hotels, off-site hotels, and short-term vacation rentals. Each has its own pros and cons, which we'll discuss below:
On-Site Hotels
Description: The Helios Grand, Stella Nova, and Terra Luna are hotel options on the Universal Studios Orlando property.
Pros: Because they are on-site, these options have the lowest travel time, and allow for early park admission. Additionally, some bookings can include Express Passes.
Cons: These tend to be more expensive options, and most rooms aren't very large.
Off-Site Hotels
Description: If you are okay staying off-site, there are plenty of other options in Orlando.
Pros: If Epic Universe is only one part of your trip, an off-site hotel makes it easier to explore the rest of Orlando.
Cons: It will take additional logistics to travel to the theme park, and you'll likely get less time in the park
Short-Term Vacation Rentals
Description: Temporary rentals from a property owner.
Pros: If you care about privacy, this is often a way to get away from the crowds at hotels.
Cons: Quality levels can vary, and you likely won't receive the same level of service as you would at a hotel.
Idaho Falls, ID, Epic Universe Vacation Planning Common Questions
How long should an Epic Universe vacation be?
The ideal length of time depends on what your goals are for the trip. If you only want to see your top attractions, you can probably do so in 1 day. To visit everything, you'll want at least 2 days in the park.
If you are spending a full week (or longer) in Orlando, that gives you time to explore Epic Universe completely and still check out some other local attractions.
How do I determine the right time for my Epic Universe vacation?
Different people will have different "best" times to visit Epic Universe. Regarding time of year, you'll want to think about high volume areas, special events, and available promotions.
Less popular times of year generally offer better promotions, and shorter wait times. However, if you care about special events and/or your schedule restricts it, higher-demand seasons might be your only option.
You should also think about what day(s) of the week you want to visit. As a rule of thumb, Sundays are often the least crowded while Mondays are the most crowded – this is highly variable, though, and can be subject to weather, special events, and more.
What is the food policy at Epic Universe?
External food and drinks are not generally permitted under Universal's official food policy. That said, there are limited circumstances where you can: Park policy allows you to bring in up to 2 liters of bottled water, and food in limited circumstances (such as to accommodate dietary restrictions).
If you are allowed to bring in food, you'll face restrictions on the size of your cooler as well (up to the size of 8.5"x6"x6" is allowed). Regardless of your food situation, you are allowed to bring in a refillable water bottle.
Are there places to fill your water bottle at Epic Universe?
Yes! There are a variety of water bottle refilling stations available within Epic Universe, and they are free to use.
Water is also available for free if you don't have a water bottle – just ask at any of the restaurants.
are bags allowed inside of Epic Universe?
You can bring a bag or backpack to Epic Universe. Don't forget that it will have to go through a security inspection prior to you entering the park.
One thing to consider is how big of a pack to bring with you. Because several of the rides don't allow packs, you'll want something that you can store in a locker if necessary. These lockers use photo validation technology as a locking mechanism.
Is Epic Universe cash-free?
Epic Universe is not a cash-free park. The only park that is currently cashless at Universal Orlando is Volcano Bay.
Some people still prefer to avoid cash in Epic Universe, particularly for food. If you use the app, you can enter your order at any time and just pick it up when it's ready.
How early should you arrive at Epic Universe?
Ideally, you should arrive at Epic Universe at least half an hour before opening. The park formally opens around 10:00 AM, with Early Park Admission an hour beforehand (the exact time can vary depending on the season).
Be sure to include extra time for transit and security.
Once the park opens, guests tend to rush the most popular rides like Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry. You can either try to beat the crowd, or visit somewhere else while the lines are shorter and loop back later.
