  • Ketogenic Dining on a Disney Cruise – Part 2

    2/26/2019 • Cruises, Tips • When you are considering going on a Disney Cruise, one of the inclusions is all of the amazing food.  There are endless options throughout the ship not to mention 24-hour room service that is included with your cruise. Although there can be a lot of temptation, it was not difficult to maintain my Ketogenic way of eating. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I was able to experience a cruise 2 months in a row.  On one of those months, I waited until our first night of dining to discuss my needs with our server. On the second cruise, I called ahead of time to note my restrictions and then met with the staff upon embarkation. Breakfast options were tremendous and honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a breakfast filled with bacon?!!??  I requested to have my eggs made to order as I am always cautious about pre-made eggs. When […]

  • Using Water Transportation Around Walt Disney World

    1/30/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • Getting around Walt Disney World property takes many forms including buses, the monorail, and walking. But my favorite way is taking a leisurely boat ride to and from select locations. Location of water transportation: Magic Kingdom Area: Sailing on the ferry from the Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom Boats run between Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian Resort and the Polynesian Resort There are a variety of routes that will transport guests between Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary resorts and Magic Kingdom.   Epcot and Hollywood Studios Area: This is my favorite area to use the boats to move between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. If you are not staying at the following resorts but have dining reservations in this area, you are able to take the bus to Hollywood Studios. Before the park entrance on the right-hand side, you will see the boat launch area. Simply hop on the boat […]

  • 4 Tips for Dealing with Disney Character Anxiety

    1/4/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • If your family is like ours you might have at least one child with major anxiety, especially when it comes to characters.  Our middle daughter is that child in our house. Seeing Santa or the Easter bunny is a nightmare for her so naturally when we make trips to Disney, there are concerns.  We have found through trial and error a few tips and tricks to make meeting characters less stressful and more enjoyable for everyone. Disney Character Tips 1. Starting a few weeks before our trip, we begin our countdown by watching videos at home showing the characters interacting with other guests. There are various park-specific specials that come on TV and Netflix. There are also planning videos provided by Disney with examples of different character experiences available at the parks. Doing this gives our kids positive examples of what to expect with character interactions along with a size […]

  • Keeping it Clean in Disney World with Laundry Services

    12/18/2018 • Tips, Walt Disney World • Vacations are meant to be a time to get away from daily mundane chores …but there seems to be one chore that follows us…LAUNDRY! Whether you’re planning on doing laundry to avoid doing it once you are home,  or you don’t want to overpack and need to wear clothing more than one day, or simply because your kids made a mess and clothing needs to be laundered, Disney has you covered!! Guests staying on Disney property have access to self-service laundry service right at the resort! LOCATION Location for self-service laundry varies.  At check-in, you’re given a map of your resort.  If it’s not clear where the laundry rooms are, ask the Cast Member at check-in their location.  Many resorts have them conveniently located near the pools. So, while your laundry is going, you can enjoy pool time! HOW TO PAY Credit and debit cards are accepted.  There may still […]

  • Greet and Dine with Disney Characters at Chef Mickey’s {Review}

    12/11/2018 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • What is the number one question that guests ask while at Walt Disney World? “Where’s Mickey Mouse?!” Everyone who makes the trek to Disney World wants to see the world’s most loveable mouse! And chances are that if you’re looking for Mickey, you want to see his best pals too! Chef Mickey’s is a fun and interactive character meal inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and it’s the place to see nearly all of them! While dining on the delicious all-you-care-to-eat buffet, some of your favorite Disney characters will come by to your table to sign autographs and pose for pictures. • Following a Ketogenic Diet While at Walt Disney World

    10/30/2018 • Tips, Walt Disney World • After a lifetime of dieting, I was still seeking the right fit for me. I was very intrigued by the guidelines of the ketogenic way of eating. My mind was made up, this is the right way for me! The basic guidelines of this way of eating are high fats, moderate proteins, and low carbohydrates. I was concerned if I could integrate my way of eating into our trips to Walt Disney World. I quickly realized dining locations throughout the property would be more than accommodating and allow me to follow my way of eating with ease! I avoid many specific cooking oils, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and hidden sugars. I was determined I would stay true to my guidelines eating 7 total carbohydrates or less per meal, eating more fat than protein, and only eating when truly hungry. If I was unsure if an item was within my guidelines, I […]

  • Enjoying Disneyland with Babies and Toddlers

    6/11/2018 • Disneyland, Tips • Vacationing as a family should be memorable, exciting, and fun! But what if you’re traveling with a baby or toddler? Will your family be able to enjoy activities together? If you are headed to Disneyland, the answer is YES! As a travel agent who specializes in Disney vacations, one of the most common questions I’m asked is if there will be rides and attractions in which the entire family can take part– especially if there is a baby or toddler in tow. Thankfully, if you’re headed to Disneyland, you’re headed to the right place! So many of the attractions at the Disneyland parks have no height requirements– meaning that even the youngest members of your family can participate in the same rides and attractions as the rest of the family. On my baby’s first visit to Disney, she was only 5 months old, and was able to ride nearly everything […]

  • Get Charged up at Walt Disney World!

    6/6/2018 • Tips, Walt Disney World • We live in a world where phones have become an accessory we always have with us, like our wallet or sunglasses.  In Disney, phones are an integral part of your trip because you use it for candid photos, videos, navigating the park, and updating plans using the My Disney Experience app. As stated before, we HIGHLY recommend you bring a portable phone charger or purchase a Fuel Rod in the park or resorts. There is another option …find a ‘charging location’ in the park.  This will require you to sit and relax (as to not leave your phone unattended), but it is a way to refuel your body and refuel your phone’s battery life simultaneously.  So where are these located?  Unfortunately, there’s not a “phone charger land” like there is a Fantasyland or Adventureland…these locations for charging are not easily found on a map.  Where MOST spots are not official […]

    3/11/2024 • Tips, Walt Disney World • You are planning a trip for your family to a Disney theme park and are looking for a great deal, but where do you start? You can do the hours upon hours of research yourself and book directly with Disney, book with a Big Box Store like Costco, visit your local AAA office, or book with a travel planner who specializes in Disney destinations. -If you enjoy planning and know exactly what you want, booking directly with Disney is an easy decision. -If you have a Costco membership and want to see what they can do for you, Costco Travel can book your vacation for you. -AAA agents can also help book your family vacation if you are an AAA member. What next, though? -Well, if you book with Disney, you will handle all the details – payments, keeping track of planning dates, booking advanced dining reservations and special activities, […]

  • What is a Surrey Bike and Where Can I Rent One While at Walt Disney World?

    4/19/2023 • Tips, Walt Disney World • When visiting Walt Disney World, there are so many incredible unique experiences available.  Golf, Mini-golf, fishing excursions, parasailing, and bike rental to name a few.  This blog entry will discuss a fun recreational activity that as many as 6 guests can enjoy together! A Surrey Bike is a multi-person bike that can accommodate 2-4 adults and even has an adorable basket in the front to accommodate up to 2 small children.  Each bike also has a bell under the cover and you will frequently see the younger children laugh as they vigorously ring the bell!  The bell is a way for riders to alert guests that are walking along the riding path that a bike is coming. Surrey bikes can be found at many of the resorts throughout Walt Disney World. Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Disney's BoardWalk Villas Disney’s Old Key West Resort Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter Disney’s […]
