  • Ketogenic Dining on a Disney Cruise – Part 2

    2/26/2019 • Cruises, Tips • When you are considering going on a Disney Cruise, one of the inclusions is all of the amazing food.  There are endless options throughout the ship not to mention 24-hour room service that is included with your cruise. Although there can be a lot of temptation, it was not difficult to maintain my Ketogenic way of eating. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, I was able to experience a cruise 2 months in a row.  On one of those months, I waited until our first night of dining to discuss my needs with our server. On the second cruise, I called ahead of time to note my restrictions and then met with the staff upon embarkation. Breakfast options were tremendous and honestly, who doesn’t enjoy a breakfast filled with bacon?!!??  I requested to have my eggs made to order as I am always cautious about pre-made eggs. When […]

  • Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast and Brunch at Storyteller’s Cafe

    2/12/2019 • Disneyland, Reviews • Character dining is one of my favorite activities at the Disney parks! While visiting Disneyland, make sure you take advantage of one of the best ways to see some of your favorite characters while enjoying a delicious meal. Storyteller’s Café in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, is my new favorite character dining experience in the Disneyland parks! Once you enter Storyteller’s Café you’ll immediately notice the beautiful décor- from the murals of western landscapes to the wood carvings throughout- the California arts and crafts influence is undeniable! While I enjoyed the delicious buffet of hash browns, the roast beef carving station, fresh fruit, and more, I was visited by Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto- all in their “adventurer outfits.” I must say, of all the character interactions I’ve ever experienced in any of the Disney parks- this was my favorite! From sashaying with Pluto into the dining room to Chip […]

  • Silent DJ – Fun for Adults on Disney Cruise Line!

    2/8/2019 • Cruises, Reviews • Who said a Disney Cruise was only for kids?? Surely, not your travel specialist at Me and The Mouse Travel!  A Disney Cruise is fun for all ages and the adult entertainment on any Disney Cruise is exciting, entertaining, and just what you need to unwind at night! So, send the kiddos to the Oceaneer’s Club for the evening then over to the Nightclub and Lounge district on your ship after 9 pm. This is a chance to experience adult-themed entertainment such as game shows, trivia, karaoke, and so much more!  Disney knows that adults expect nightlife and they do deliver! On most nights, one event scheduled let’s you get your groove on without disturbing anyone else on the ship!  Late night, around 10:30 or 11:00 pm, the nightclub aboard your ship will turn into a dance club...silently! “But HOW” you might be asking?  Well, with a very cool activity […]

  • Using Water Transportation Around Walt Disney World

    1/30/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • Getting around Walt Disney World property takes many forms including buses, the monorail, and walking. But my favorite way is taking a leisurely boat ride to and from select locations. Location of water transportation: Magic Kingdom Area: Sailing on the ferry from the Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom Boats run between Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian Resort and the Polynesian Resort There are a variety of routes that will transport guests between Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary resorts and Magic Kingdom.   Epcot and Hollywood Studios Area: This is my favorite area to use the boats to move between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. If you are not staying at the following resorts but have dining reservations in this area, you are able to take the bus to Hollywood Studios. Before the park entrance on the right-hand side, you will see the boat launch area. Simply hop on the boat […]

  • Boma-Flavors of Africa Breakfast Buffet {Review}

    3/20/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • If you are a breakfast fan and are looking for a unique dining experience, I recommend trying the breakfast buffet at Boma - Flavors of Africa. Boma is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge at Jambo House. It is a family-friendly themed Disney dining experience. I have enjoyed the Boma dinner experience for years when visiting Walt Disney World. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy the Boma breakfast experience while attending a travel agent training at Walt Disney World with my fellow agent, Tressa Krippel. You are in for a treat if your are trying Boma breakfast for the first time like me. It is a good choice because you will find traditional breakfast items in addition to items with an African flair. Although breakfast is served buffet style, a server will bring your drinks to your table. Boma serves breakfast daily from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., […]

  • Storybook Dining at Artist Point {Review}

    1/11/2019 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • Artist Point, located in Disney Wilderness Lodge, is a favorite signature dining restaurant in Walt Disney World. They recently made a change (in December 2018), to a character experience known as Storybook Dining! This new family favorite restaurant will not only delight your taste buds but will also excite the kid in all of us with a unique character experience! Upon arrival, a brief ‘story’ is told of who will visit you during your dinner experience as well as the proper way to address The Queen! Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy will also visit guests with The Queen. You will notice lovely woodland decor at every turn, twinkle lights, and a storybook in the center of the dining room.  A Lazy Susan at your table resembles a great oak tree with leaves designed to hold both your appetizers and desserts! Signed ‘apples’ tie your silverware together. Snow White is introduced […]

    1/4/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • If your family is like ours you might have at least one child with major anxiety, especially when it comes to characters.  Our middle daughter is that child in our house. Seeing Santa or the Easter bunny is a nightmare for her so naturally when we make trips to Disney, there are concerns.  We have found through trial and error a few tips and tricks to make meeting characters less stressful and more enjoyable for everyone. Disney Character Tips 1. Starting a few weeks before our trip, we begin our countdown by watching videos at home showing the characters interacting with other guests. There are various park-specific specials that come on TV and Netflix. There are also planning videos provided by Disney with examples of different character experiences available at the parks. Doing this gives our kids positive examples of what to expect with character interactions along with a size […]
