  • Surviving Walt Disney World with Toddlers!

    5/17/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • If you’re like me, you can’t wait to take your little one (toddler) to Disney and experience it for the first time through your child’s eyes. The castle, the characters, a Mickey bar, and yes…the rides!   Here are some helpful tips and tricks that I’ve learned as a mom taking my young children to visit Mickey! Averting a meltdown: Rest Walt Disney World is huge and walking around just one park can add up those steps very quickly. Bring or rent a comfortable stroller to give tired feet a rest. Plan for a rest either back at the resort or in the stroller. Just some down time to close tired little eyes and get a second wind will help you all continue the fun. Planning for half days is a great way to check off your most important experiences while allowing yourselves some quiet time and it also gives […]

  • Disney Springs Aerophile: The View from Up High

    5/10/2019 • Walt Disney World • Have you ever wanted to view Walt Disney World from another perspective? Picture yourself 400 feet above Disney Springs with 360 degrees views that include Spaceship Earth, Tower of Terror, and Magic Kingdom. Above, you are 210,000 cubic feet of helium, filling a hand-painted balloon that moves gently with the wind, and giving you 8 minutes of peace to take in 10 miles of gorgeous views. The Aerophile – The World Leader in Balloon Flight, is located in Disney Springs and is a perfect experience for guests on their arrival or departure day, or anytime when you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the parks. Once tickets are purchased and waivers are signed, you line up for your experience under the shade of several umbrellas until it is your turn to board. Family groups are called one by one and your family will have your […]

  • Disney Cruise Line for Adults

    4/16/2019 • Cruises, Reviews • Think a Disney Cruise is just for families traveling with kids? Think again! Your Me and The Mouse Team recently took a team trip aboard the Disney Dream and it’s not just for kids anymore! Let me start this by saying, I am not a cruise person and therefore, I haven’t been on many in the past few years. My main reasons for not liking cruises include being afraid that the boat is going to leave me at the port since I am, admittedly, not the timeliest individual (my poor husband), the crowds of people on board, and the presumably low-quality food. (If you have read any of my previous blogs, you’ve probably figured out I love food!) Lastly, my husband and I don’t have any kids yet, so why would we go on a Disney cruise specifically? While I didn’t know the answer to that before, I definitely do […]

  • SURPRISE! We’re Going to Disney!

    3/29/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • Many parents envision surprising their kids with news of a vacation to Disney with lots of smiles, excited screams, and perhaps, even some happy tears! Here are some fun ways to surprise your children with a trip to visit Mickey! Simply….don’t tell them until you are on your way there! It takes stealth and sneakiness to plan a trip without little ears overhearing, not to mention getting everyone’s suitcase packed but it’s a lot of fun too especially if you have younger kids who haven’t yet grasped the concept of time. You might also save a bit of your sanity by eliminating the “is it time yet?” component that might otherwise linger for the months leading up to the big event. Depending on your mode of transportation, you might not tell them until you arrive at the airport or when you are pulling into the parking areas. For older children, […]

  • The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

    3/1/2019 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • Roughing it, glamping, becoming a Wilderness Explorer, or whatever you wish to call it, can be done at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. I recently had a chance to stay in the cabins at Fort Wilderness and from the moment we pulled up to the reception outpost (check-in area), it was obvious this was not your typical Disney resort. This is a full-service campground, so accommodations for anything from tents to luxury RV’s are available but for now, we are just going to discuss the cabins. Upon arrival, you are given a wealth of information about the property and a detailed map. Fort Wilderness is 750 acres and has miles and miles of roads and loops that will lead you to your assigned site. The cabins, all 365 of them, are the largest standard accommodations on all of Disney’s property. They are just over 500 square feet. Your value […]

  • Silent DJ – Fun for Adults on Disney Cruise Line!

    2/8/2019 • Cruises, Reviews • Who said a Disney Cruise was only for kids?? Surely, not your travel specialist at Me and The Mouse Travel!  A Disney Cruise is fun for all ages and the adult entertainment on any Disney Cruise is exciting, entertaining, and just what you need to unwind at night! So, send the kiddos to the Oceaneer’s Club for the evening then over to the Nightclub and Lounge district on your ship after 9 pm. This is a chance to experience adult-themed entertainment such as game shows, trivia, karaoke, and so much more!  Disney knows that adults expect nightlife and they do deliver! On most nights, one event scheduled let’s you get your groove on without disturbing anyone else on the ship!  Late night, around 10:30 or 11:00 pm, the nightclub aboard your ship will turn into a dance club...silently! “But HOW” you might be asking?  Well, with a very cool activity […]

  • Using Water Transportation Around Walt Disney World

    1/30/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • Getting around Walt Disney World property takes many forms including buses, the monorail, and walking. But my favorite way is taking a leisurely boat ride to and from select locations. Location of water transportation: Magic Kingdom Area: Sailing on the ferry from the Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom Boats run between Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian Resort and the Polynesian Resort There are a variety of routes that will transport guests between Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary resorts and Magic Kingdom.   Epcot and Hollywood Studios Area: This is my favorite area to use the boats to move between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. If you are not staying at the following resorts but have dining reservations in this area, you are able to take the bus to Hollywood Studios. Before the park entrance on the right-hand side, you will see the boat launch area. Simply hop on the boat […]

  • Storybook Dining at Artist Point {Review}

    1/11/2019 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • Artist Point, located in Disney Wilderness Lodge, is a favorite signature dining restaurant in Walt Disney World. They recently made a change (in December 2018), to a character experience known as Storybook Dining! This new family favorite restaurant will not only delight your taste buds but will also excite the kid in all of us with a unique character experience! Upon arrival, a brief ‘story’ is told of who will visit you during your dinner experience as well as the proper way to address The Queen! Snow White, Dopey, and Grumpy will also visit guests with The Queen. You will notice lovely woodland decor at every turn, twinkle lights, and a storybook in the center of the dining room.  A Lazy Susan at your table resembles a great oak tree with leaves designed to hold both your appetizers and desserts! Signed ‘apples’ tie your silverware together. Snow White is introduced […]

  • 4 Tips for Dealing with Disney Character Anxiety

    1/4/2019 • Tips, Walt Disney World • If your family is like ours you might have at least one child with major anxiety, especially when it comes to characters.  Our middle daughter is that child in our house. Seeing Santa or the Easter bunny is a nightmare for her so naturally when we make trips to Disney, there are concerns.  We have found through trial and error a few tips and tricks to make meeting characters less stressful and more enjoyable for everyone. Disney Character Tips 1. Starting a few weeks before our trip, we begin our countdown by watching videos at home showing the characters interacting with other guests. There are various park-specific specials that come on TV and Netflix. There are also planning videos provided by Disney with examples of different character experiences available at the parks. Doing this gives our kids positive examples of what to expect with character interactions along with a size […]
