Character dining is one of my favorite activities at the Disney parks! While visiting Disneyland, make sure you take advantage of one of the best ways to see some of your favorite characters while enjoying a delicious meal. Storyteller’s Café in Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, is my new favorite character dining experience in the Disneyland parks! Once you enter Storyteller’s Café you’ll immediately notice the beautiful décor- from the murals of western landscapes to the wood carvings throughout- the California arts and crafts influence is undeniable! While I enjoyed the delicious buffet of hash browns, the roast beef carving station, fresh fruit, and more, I was visited by Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto- all in their “adventurer outfits.” I must say, of all the character interactions I’ve ever experienced in any of the Disney parks- this was my favorite! Getting around Walt Disney World property takes many forms including buses, the monorail, and walking. But my favorite way is taking a leisurely boat ride to and from select locations. Location of water transportation: Magic Kingdom Area: Sailing on the ferry from the Transportation Center to Magic Kingdom Boats run between Magic Kingdom, the Grand Floridian Resort and the Polynesian Resort There are a variety of routes that will transport guests between Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness, the Contemporary resorts and Magic Kingdom. Epcot and Hollywood Studios Area: This is my favorite area to use the boats to move between Hollywood Studios and Epcot. If you are not staying at the following resorts but have dining reservations in this area, you are able to take the bus to Hollywood Studios. If you are looking for a unique quick service location in Magic Kingdom, look no further than Columbia Harbor House. Nestled near the Haunted Mansion and Liberty Square, you will find this New England themed restaurant. This restaurant boasts lots of nautical décor and feels as if you are sitting in a sea side fish house. There is a large fireplace to welcome you inside and the rooms are filled with ship wheels, boats, and nautical paintings. There are two floors to provide ample seating and one of my favorite things about this location, is sitting upstairs. Sometimes this seating area can be less crowded, but the best part is snagging one of the tables by the window for some people watching. Howdy, Partner! It's time to roundup the TOYS and have a delicious meal at one of the best Quick Service restaurants at Hollywood Studios! Woody's Lunchbox is the newest Quick Service restaurant located in the new Toy Story Land. Woody’s Lunch Box features classic American food, old-fashioned soda floats and other Toy Story-themed specialties (try the Mystic Portal Punch). If you are a breakfast fan and are looking for a unique dining experience, I recommend trying the breakfast buffet at Boma - Flavors of Africa. Boma is located at Animal Kingdom Lodge at Jambo House. It is a family-friendly themed Disney dining experience. I have enjoyed the Boma dinner experience for years when visiting Walt Disney World. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to enjoy the Boma breakfast experience while attending a travel agent training at Walt Disney World with my fellow agent, Tressa Krippel. If your family is like ours you might have at least one child with major anxiety, especially when it comes to characters. Our middle daughter is that child in our house. Seeing Santa or the Easter bunny is a nightmare for her so naturally when we make trips to Disney, there are concerns. We have found through trial and error a few tips and tricks to make meeting characters less stressful and more enjoyable for everyone. Disney Character Tips 1. Starting a few weeks before our trip, we begin our countdown by watching videos at home showing the characters interacting with other guests. There are various park-specific specials that come on TV and Netflix. There are also planning videos provided by Disney with examples of different character experiences available at the parks. After a lifetime of dieting, I was still seeking the right fit for me. I was very intrigued by the guidelines of the ketogenic way of eating. My mind was made up, this is the right way for me! The basic guidelines of this way of eating are high fats, moderate proteins, and low carbohydrates. I was concerned if I could integrate my way of eating into our trips to Walt Disney World. I quickly realized dining locations throughout the property would be more than accommodating and allow me to follow my way of eating with ease! I avoid many specific cooking oils, preservatives, artificial sweeteners, and hidden sugars. Gaston. According to his song, he’s everyone's favorite guy. But better than the man himself is Gaston’s Tavern and it has become one of my favorite Magic Kingdom snacking hideouts since its opening. Gaston’s Tavern is located in Fantasyland in the square centered by Gaston’s statue. It offers snacks as well as light meal options which is perfect when you aren’t hungry enough for a complete quick service meal but want something a little bit more than a light snack. Walking into the restaurant you will first encounter a warm pub atmosphere with wood paneling and barrels filled with LeFou’s Brew. Cozy tables line the far wall where guests make themselves at home.
