If you are reading this blog post, chances are you have found cheap flights from Allegiant to Orlando and are curious about your best options for transportation to Walt Disney World or Universal Orlando Resort. Allegiant flies into Orlando Sanford Airport (SFB) in Sanford, FL, which is northeast of Orlando, FL, and is considerably farther away from your travel destination than Orlando International Airport (MCO). One way to Universal Studios is about an hour’s drive. And for Walt Disney World, about an hour and twenty minutes. Both travel times depend upon construction, and I-4 traffic! Because of this, Having safe, reliable transportation to/from SFB is very important! So what are your options? There are no complimentary transportation services available at SFB to either theme park destination, but there are paid services available. Me and The Mouse Travel recommends the following, and can assist you with these booking options. Please note […]

It wasn’t until my oldest son, who is living with Fragile X, was almost 3 that I began to have a greater understanding of his sensory integration challenges. Fragile X is the leading cause of inherited intellectual impairment and the leading known genetic cause of Autism. I was attending an education workshop, and I participated in an exercise that helped me understand what someone with Fragile X/Sensory integration challenges experiences. I began to view the world with a different perspective. On our next trip to Walt Disney World, It was as if I was experiencing it for the first time. Guests are immersed in their experience even before entering the gates. Our senses are constantly bombarded. As my son grew older, it was clear that the sensory input, at times, was too much. If we wanted to continue to enjoy traveling to Disney destinations, we needed to come up with […]

I’ve Booked My Disney Cruise…Now What? Keeping the excitement of a future cruise – especially one that is over a year away – can be difficult unless you are sailing with Disney! Once you have booked your cruise with Me and The Mouse Travel, here are some things to do or consider. 1. Join the cruise Facebook group. Each Disney cruise has a Facebook group organized by an individual or group of individuals on the sailing, usually a DCL veteran. In the Facebook search toolbar, type the name of your ship and the year of your cruise i.e. Disney Wonder 2017, and you should be able to locate the group. Groups are typically “closed” and a request to join is necessary. It is a great way to get to know your fellow Guests, and many groups schedule a group meet-up or other private events on board. It also serves as […]

If you love Christmas and you love Disney, sailing away on a Very Merrytime Cruise with Disney Cruise Line should be added to your Christmas list. I was fortunate to experience my first Very Merrytime Cruise on the Disney Dream with my Me and The Mouse team in early November this year. I love the holidays and was so excited to get a jump start on Christmas music, decorations, and holiday traditions. Disney’s expertise in creating a “Magical Christmas” sailing is something I was thrilled to have the opportunity to experience. I especially enjoyed the magic of snow in the tropics. Holiday activities and offerings are subject to change by ship and itinerary, but I am excited to share a sampling below: Deck the Deck Tropical Holiday Party-Where your Disney pals know how to get the holiday party started with dancing and games such as candy cane limbo. Mickey’s Tree […]

You have finally managed to save enough for this magical vacation. You have put months of work into planning every detail so things are perfect! You can’t wait to see the smiles and hear the laughter of your kids but that all could change if you don’t plan for the waits. It is just a given, if you are going to Disney, you are going to wait in lines at some point during your trip. A little extra planning beforehand can save you a major meltdown while on your magical trip. Here are some helpful hints that will hopefully make waiting in line more tolerable: Start preparing your kids months before you leave. When you are waiting in line to see a movie or buy a toy, explain that this is what it will be like at Disney. But also, explain the reward at the end of the wait makes […]

Have you ever wondered what Disney World looks like through the eyes of a seven-year-old? Do they really appreciate all the magic or do we just convince ourselves of that? Sitting down with my seven-year-old son the other night, we had a conversation that went down the Disney path (which frequently happens with our conversations) and it led me to ask him some pointed questions. Questions that might just help you as you plan your trip with a school-aged child and I thought some of his answers were great! Note: this particular seven-year-old has been to Disney over....well, a lot in his short life so far. He knows the parks inside and out and has been on every single ride that he is able to go on due to height restrictions. Some he may never go on again because the thrill just isn't for him (i.e. Space Mountain & Everest). I had him […]

For the last 25 years, Disney guests have been splashing around at one of the greatest overlooked experiences on Disney property - Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon! Disney is known for its great theming and Typhoon Lagoon does not disappoint. The details show evidence of the island paradise once wiped out by a typhoon; most notably, Miss Tilley’s shipwrecked shrimp boat on the top of Mount Meyday which erupts into a geyser every 30 minutes. Typhoon Lagoon is home to a wide range of “mild to wild” water attractions, and is a great place to cool off during the hottest Disney summer months. At the center of the park is the surf pool, which is the largest man-made wave pool in North America. The huge waves of the surf pool is one of the biggest draws to Typhoon Lagoon. Want to learn how to surf like a pro? Guests can before park […]

I thought it would be fun to explore what kid’s thoughts and reactions were in relation to visiting Walt Disney World! My expert panel of kids have all recently visited and were excited to share with us what made their Disney vacation so memorable! A big step in planning a Disney vacation is a figuring out where you are going to stay. Disney’s on property resorts are amazing, they offer such a great continuation of the Disney experience. The kids were questioned about what their favorite aspect of staying at their Walt Disney resort was: “All the art work”. (Art of Animation) Isabelle (14) “The Herbie Car being at our resort”. (Pop Century) Ashton (11) “The Pool”. (Pop Century) Hannah (11) “The pool, theme, and monorail”. (Polynesian Village) Hunter (14) “The beignets at French Quarter”. (Port Orleans French Quarter) Jonathon (16) “I liked the headboards that light up”. (Port Orleans […]

A relatively new experience, the Bon Voyage Breakfast at Trattoria al Forno is a lovely alternative for character meals. Meet two of the most adventurous princesses out there – Ariel and Rapunzel! Accompanied by Prince Eric and Flynn Ryder {Eugene for those that know him well}, no less! Introduced by royal decree – each couple comes to visit tables and bring adventure to every family! Sometimes, Ariel may ask you to swim with her like her favorite fishy friends in a conga line! This restaurant boasts a charming, dark-wood, tile-floor, open kitchen concept everyone is sure to love. The dining room is more intimate, and ordering off menu versus a buffet is a wonderful change of pace! Every menu item is inspired by The Little Mermaid or Tangled. Before you start your adventure, each table has a “Bon Voyage Adventure Journal” to fill out. In it, your family will […]
