There is SO much magic to experience both inside and outside of the theme parks! Whether you’re a first-time visitor wanting to soak in all the resort amenities or a seasoned Disney traveler looking for something new to add to your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation, I have the perfect “Magical Extra” for your itinerary.
On a recent girls’ trip, I wanted to share a fun and unique experience with my friends—something beyond rides and shows. After an amazing character breakfast at Tusker House Restaurant and a few favorite attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom, we hopped on the bus to Disney's Coronado Springs Resort for an afternoon filled with creativity, laughter, and memories at Disney’s Colors of Coronado experience.
If you haven’t heard of Colors of Coronado, it’s a guided painting class offered at Coronado Springs Resort where guests can create Disney-inspired artwork in a relaxed and beautiful setting. It’s one of those hidden gems many guests don’t even realize exists!
We arrived a little early so we could refill our mugs and take in the beautiful surroundings before heading to check-in at Toledo - Tapas, Steak & Seafood, located at the top of the stunning Gran Destino Tower. Since the restaurant is closed during the day, the space transforms into the perfect setting for this special event. The panoramic views alone made the experience feel extra magical!
Once checked in, we were assigned our table where everything was waiting for us—smocks, easels, canvases, paints, and brushes. Our “master painter” had an example displayed for inspiration and guided us step-by-step through creating a magical scene inspired by one of Disney’s most beloved classics, The Little Mermaid.
One of my favorite parts of the experience was the small group setting (about 20 guests). It felt personal, relaxed, and welcoming—even for those of us who don’t exactly consider ourselves artists! The instructor was encouraging, the atmosphere was peaceful, and at around $50 per person, it was an affordable and memorable addition to our vacation.
While we may not be ready to debut our masterpieces at the Louvre Museum anytime soon, we left with so much more than a painting. We left with laughter, memories, and a one-of-a-kind keepsake from our trip.
If you’re planning your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation and want to add some unique experiences beyond the parks, don’t overlook the magic happening at the resorts! From painting classes to specialty dining, there are so many ways to make your trip even more memorable.
