I think we are all ready for some sunshine in our lives, so today, my blog post will focus on a woman who brightened things up and helped our world become a little smaller after all! I’m talking about Disney Legend, Mary Blair who is best known for the design of It’s A Small World, concept art for Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Cinderella, and the large mosaic mural in the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World. Her style and design is revered by artists across the world and is still an inspiration for Disney artists and Imagineers today. Blair joined Disney Animation in 1940 and a year later traveled South America with Walt and his wife Lilly on a research trip. On that trip, she created watercolors of the destinations, impressing Walt who then appointed her art supervisor of Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros. She worked on […]

It all started with … a mouse? Well, yes, but it also started with a family visit to a local carousel in Griffith Park, California. Sitting on a park bench, Walt imagined a special place a whole family could visit and enjoy together. A Walk in Walt’s Footsteps takes you step by step with a very hands-on Walt Disney as he envisioned and created a very magical new world, Disneyland. Meeting up at the guided tour booth at the entrance to Main Street, U.S.A., you are greeted by your guide and welcomed into a small group of fellow guests. Groups are generally less than twenty people so you can stay tight and stick together as your guide walks you through some of Walt’s favorite areas. Everyone is fitted with an earpiece so the guide is able to walk with you, pointing things out and explaining the history and decision-making behind […]

“The perfect spot to view the Magic Kingdom Fireworks”... is a very subjective opinion. For those who have seen Wishes before, they might suggest to you, “Why not…”: Main Street by The Plaza Restaurant? The Hub? The Rose Garden? Tomorrowland Terrace? Main Street USA near the Train Station? Liberty Square bridge? These are all amazing spots...but I’m suggesting you take a different and more adventurous approach to your fireworks viewing experience! ***this is a suggestion for those who have seen the fireworks before, or don’t feel like grabbing a spot early to view them in their entirety*** First, check the times guide to see when the evening Fireworks will be offered the day you will be visiting the Magic Kingdom. “Wishes a Nighttime Spectacular” will be offered until May 11, 2017. Then, starting May 12, 2017, the new show “Happily Ever After” will debut! Second, arrange a Fast […]

No Disney Fan’s adventures would be complete without a trip to Walt’s boyhood home of Marceline, MO! Nestled about an hour and a half north of Columbia, MO, this quaint town exudes charm and Disney History around every corner! Take the Disney tour of Marceline - the Walt Disney Hometown Museum containing personal letters, photos, and other Disney artifacts - guided by volunteers who met and housed Walt himself on his numerous visits “back home”. See where the Original Midget Autopia from Disneyland Park was relocated to at Walt Disney Municipal Park. Currently, the Walt Disney Hometown Museum is campaigning to restore this attraction - follow the link above to find out how to help! You can then visit the Disney Family Farm and the Disney Barn...as well as see (what’s left of) Walt’s Dreaming Tree - where it’s said that Walt dreamed of being a cartoonist. In the barn, […]

A Review of Star Wars Weekends’ “Rebel Hangar” Well if you haven’t figured it out yet, my family travels to Disney in May or June for Star Wars Weekends (SWW). We are SWW junkies and proud of it. We dress up, wait in line for character signatures AND try out all the new events. This year Disney added an additional dining experience during SWW called the “Rebel Hangar.” It ended up being the most underrated, most loved event of our SWW experience. The Rebel Hangar was located in part of the “Backlot Express”. It was crudely decorated with Star Wars items and memorabilia, but that was kinda the point. Rebels are constantly on the move hiding from the Empire. Nothing is to be organized or well put together. Some of the posters and art were quite funny and […]

One of the most popular shows at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland is Fantasmic! During the busiest seasons, guests will start waiting up to 2 hours before the show to watch this 25-minute spectacle. But waiting for a long period of time is not the only way you can see this amazing show. For those guests headed to Walt Disney World, there is another option to ensure your seat in this show - Disney’s Fantasmic! Dining Package. Disney’s Fantasmic! Dining Package is a limited package. Those guests with this package will dine at their reservation and at the end of their meal they will receive tickets allowing entry into a designated seating section for the Fantasmic! show held that night. With park admission and your meal, there is no additional cost to have the show option added, however, the meal itself will be at a fixed price. But is […]
