Ale and Compass restaurant is located at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort.  I love staying at this resort and welcomed the opportunity to try this new experience.  This restaurant was formerly named Captain’s Grill and has been recently refurbished and the menu has been re-imagined as well.  I recommend giving this new location a try especially if you are staying at a Disney resort nearby.

Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at Ale & Compass and it is a table service establishment.  It was not super busy during the time I visited but had steady dining traffic. If you are on the Disney Dining Plan, 1 entitlement is required to eat here. While I always suggest making advance dining reservations while dining on Disney property, walk-in customers would have been welcomed during my dining experience here.

My daughter and I decide to try breakfast and really enjoyed our dining experience. Upon entering the restaurant, I found the atmosphere was elegant and peaceful.  I loved the décor and blue and grey hues used in the remodel and it gave me a sense of peace and calming. It is a very comfortable place to dine. The hostesses and our waiter were very friendly.

The menu was very impressive. I must say this was a difficult decision because I wanted to choose a unique dish that I couldn’t get just anywhere. The three choices that were calling my name were:  Blueberry Bacon Pancakes, Salted Caramel-Apple French Toast, or Cornbread Waffle with Strawberry-Orange Compote, Lemon Ricotta and Basil Sugar. I decide to try the Salted Carmel-Apple French Toast.  It came with a choice of a side of bacon, sausage or fresh fruit. I found it nice to have a healthy choice to accompany my main course, but ultimately, I could not resist choosing bacon, because I have a bacon addiction. I just couldn’t resist!  My choice of Salted Carmel-Apple French Toast was a culinary success. I was very pleased and found it to be a nice consistency – it was cooked to perfection. It was on the sweet side, and I found myself not needing to use the syrup that accompanied this choice.  I will return in the future to try the other two choices that I eliminated during this visit. My daughter selected the Eggs Benedict and Joffrey’s Alto Mayo Protected Forest Coffee Press Pot. I’m not a coffee drinker, but she said that it was delicious!

I will also be back for a lunch and dinner experience.  I have been told that the Parker House Rolls and Spreads (Bacon Jam, Pub Cheese and Citrus Butter) is a starter that everyone must experience.  The Wedged Romaine Salad with Garlic Peppercorn Cream, Bacon Lardons, Tomatoes and Blue Cheese could be a nice choice to enjoy with the Parker House Rolls and Spreads.  You will find both of these on the lunch and dinner menu.

I really enjoyed seeing the variety of choices offered for lunch and dinner making Ale & Compass a great choice for families like mine who don’t always agree on the perfect place to eat.  Offerings include Hearth Oven Flatbreads, pastas, unique burgers and sandwiches, seafood, pork chops, and steak.

It is also a great option for Vegan customers. A Grilled Vegan Plant-based “Bacon Cheeseburger” is offered at lunch and a Protein Bowl (Vegan Italian Sausage, Quinoa, Sweet Potatoes, and Broccolini with Roasted Cherry Tomato Sauce) is served at both lunch and dinner.

If you are a seafood lover, there are many enticing options such as:  Lobster and Corn Chowder, Oven-roast Oysters, Fish and Chips, and Maine Lobster Roll offered at lunch.  For dinner, you may choose from Coastal Clambake and Pan-seared Trout.

If after experiencing one of the above amazing choices and you are still hungry, I hear for dessert, the Trio of Puddings (Chocolate, Blackberry and Butterscotch with Mix-Ins) and the Twelve-Layer Chocolate Cake are both worth checking out.

A full Cocktail Menu is offered during lunch and dinner.

If you are like me, you have your favorite Disney restaurants that are a “must-do” when vacationing with Disney.  It might be a challenge to get reservations at some of the more popular dining locations. If you find your family disappointed because your favorites are booked or that your favorite now requires 2 entitlements on the Disney Dining Plan, I encourage you to keep an open mind and try a new experience.  The Ale and Compass might be just what you need after an active day at the Disney Theme Parks – a calm and peaceful atmosphere to wind down and just RELAX!
