Did you know that Disney is more than theme parks and cruises? Disney has beach destinations in Vero Beach, FL, Hilton Head Island, SC and Aulani in Ko Olina, HI. After spending a few days in the parks, my family looks forward to some time relaxing and a little beach time. Disney’s Vero Beach Resort is heaven on earth. It is perfect for a getaway or adding on a few days before or after a Walt Disney World Park vacation or a Disney Cruise Line vacation. Vero Beach is a 2-hour drive from Orlando and 1 ½ hours from Port Canaveral cruise port.
There are multiple places tucked away to enjoy a good book, a cocktail or just a nap. You will find rocking chairs, hammocks, and lounge chairs throughout the resort enjoy the sea breeze and the ocean view. To end the evening, you can join other families beside the campfire enjoying a few sing-alongs and s’mores.
If you are looking for a more active vacation, stop by Eb and Flo’s Rentals located adjacent to the pool to rent a bike and explore the bike trails the surround the property. You can also enjoy miniature golf, also located next to the pool, or participate in the numerous pool activities hosted by the Cast Members, or check-out the daily activities that are scheduled for all ages.
You can also find a variety of dining options on property. For a quick snack or light dinner, Wind and Waves Market is perfect for grab and go selections. If you desire a sit-down restaurant, then Wind and Waves Grill offers table service with a view of the ocean. While you’re enjoying the pool, grabbing a bite from the bar is a great option. The pool bar menu is limited, but there is enough variety to satisfy most.
If you want to venture off the property, there are quite a few local favorites within a short drive. 10 miles south on A1A, you will find restaurants and shopping. Mulligan’s Beach House Bar and Grill and Ocean Grill are two of my family’s favorite choices.
