Both Disney Cruise Line veterans and newbies alike have all been waiting in anticipation for Disney’s newest port visit- the all-new Lookout Point at Lighthouse Cay! Those familiar with Disney Cruise Line’s private Island, Castaway Cay, will understand what a highlight of the cruise it is for so many families. Now that Lookout Point at Lighthouse Cay has been opened, let’s get into the details of this newly-opened island and what is offered!

Before you make your way down to the island, make sure you have the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app on your phone, to check out the schedule on land and sea! As with any port visit, make sure you have your Key to the World Card or DisneyBand+ with you before you disembark the ship. You will not be allowed off the ship or back on without that. And double check the all aboard time before departing the ship.

As with all port visits, I recommend starting your day early. This will allow you to get better seating in the beach areas as well as taking advantage of the cooler temperatures to walk from the ship to the island, as it is about a half mile walk. Once you arrive on the island, you will take a tram from the pier to Mabrika Cove, the hub of the island. There you can receive your complimentary towels for use on the island!

In the Mabrika Cove area is the Goombay Cultural Center. There you will find special cultural programs, exhibits, and even a daily Bahamian parade! Make sure to catch this parade, as it typically involves some of your favorite Disney characters as well as traditional Bahamian dancing and music. Times for this parade are found in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app.

If you’ve cruised on Disney Cruise Line before, you will know that daily breakfast and lunch buffets are included in your cruise fare. Your lunch at Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is no different! On island, you can enjoy lunch at True True BBQ, where you can find many local favorite dishes, but also family-friendly fare, such as hot dogs and hamburgers. You’ll also be thrilled to hear that the soft-serve ice cream available on the ship is also available on the island as well!

On the island, there are plenty of activities to keep Guests occupied! Activities on the island include bike rentals, snorkeling and snorkel equipment rental, family beach, adults-only area, family water play area, splash pad, nature trail, and play pavilion. Not to mention my favorite activity- beach lounging! Lounger chairs are available both on the family beaches and the adults-only beach.

Make sure to walk around and experience all that there is to offer! And if you or your little one are looking to have their hair braided, visit Plait and Pleats where a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member will braid your hair in a number of different styles!

And with all of that activity, you’re surely going to work up an appetite! Good thing that complimentary lunch buffets, sodas, water, and soft serve ice cream are available at True-True BBQ! And if you’re staying in the adults-only section, there is also a Serenity Bay BBQ so you don’t have to trek far to get some delicious meals! There are also other bars, such as Blue Hole Bar and Bow and Ribbon Bar, as well as specialty drink locations, such as Sandsational Smoothies and Mangroves & Go Coffee Bar, throughout the island. When visiting those locations, make sure to have your Key to the World Card or DisneyBand+ to charge those to your room, as dining and drinking there will incur an additional cost.

And if your favorite activity of cruising is the shopping- Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point does not disappoint! Make sure you visit Treasures of Eleuthra where handmade goods from local artisans are available for purchase. For Disney-branded merchandise, you’ll need to stop by Disney T’ings for Disney Cruise Line and Lighthouse Point shirts, Christmas ornaments, beach gear and more. This is the most popular shop on the island, so make sure to visit this shop early in the day to ensure you get the merchandise you’re looking for!
