Who doesn’t love a good margarita and some guacamole?! I’ve got just the place to celebrate Taco Tuesday and maybe even Taco Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! On your next trip to Universal, you’ll have to stop by Antojitos! Located just outside the theme parks and a short water taxi ride away from the on-property hotels, Antojitos is located conveniently at Universal’s CityWalk, which is perfect after a long day at the parks. Antojitos has a great vibe and you are enticed into the restaurant with bright waves of color, along with the vibrant sounds of an authentic Mariachi band which sets the tone for a fun experience. We were guided to our table and along the way, we saw several patrons enjoying guacamole that is made-to-order tableside. As soon as we sat down they brought us a big bowl of chips and salsa and we immediately ordered the guacamole to […]

So this blog almost didn’t happen…twice. “Why?” you may ask… because the food is so good I destroyed it before I got pictures. True story. If you’ve read my blogs before, you know I like food, and burgers are my thing, so when we discovered Cowfish in Universal’s Citywalk, a mere 90 minutes away from us, I was elated because we literally travel across the country for food. Cowfish is the perfect nightcap after a long day running around Universal’s theme parks and is conveniently located a short walk from each park on your way out of the Citywalk complex. It’s a three-story restaurant with some cool views if you are seated on the patio or third-story deck. It boasts some underwater theming and even a trio of interactive screens on the way in to occupy your time while you wait. Because it’s so popular, there is almost always a […]

Imagine yourself immersed in a tropical escape where your days are filled with the warmth of the sun, blue skies, clear water, and breathtaking views. Now, imagine the tranquility you will feel knowing ALL of your food, drinks, entertainment, water sports, gratuities, airport transfers, and CHILDCARE have already been included with the price of your stay. And yes, I did say childcare! It may sound too good to be true, but Beaches all-inclusive resorts have turned this fantasy into a reality! If you’ve heard of Sandals All-Inclusive adult-only resorts then you’ll be familiar with the brand’s model which strives to create the most relaxing, carefree vacation. By including everything in the price, your “vacation” becomes a true vacation with nothing to worry about, except which restaurant or water sport to try next. Beaches takes this a step further so the kids, grandparents, and extended family can join in on the […]

When one thinks theme parks, sophistication doesn’t usually come to mind. However, Disney Springs is changing the game with several new additions of James Beard award-winning restaurants, including the only wine bar in Florida led by a Master Sommelier, Wine Bar George. George Miliotes is one of only 256 Master Sommeliers in the world and he brings his passion and expertise to Disney Springs. Wine Bar George offers more than 140 wines available by the glass! In addition, they offer hand-crafted cocktails and craft beers alongside a full menu of small plates, cheese and charcuterie, family-style plates, and sweets. As if that wasn’t enough, Wine Bar George features Wine Country Brunch with the famed Dole Whipped Mimosa which is perfect for the 90-degree days in Orlando. I can speak first-hand that these are delicious and really hit the spot when you’re out in the heat. My husband and I were […]

Think a Disney Cruise is just for families traveling with kids? Think again! Your Me and The Mouse Team recently took a team trip aboard the Disney Dream and it’s not just for kids anymore! Let me start this by saying, I am not a cruise person and therefore, I haven’t been on many in the past few years. My main reasons for not liking cruises include being afraid that the boat is going to leave me at the port since I am, admittedly, not the timeliest individual (my poor husband), the crowds of people on board, and the presumably low-quality food. (If you have read any of my previous blogs, you’ve probably figured out I love food!) Lastly, my husband and I don’t have any kids yet, so why would we go on a Disney cruise specifically? While I didn’t know the answer to that before, I definitely do […]

When most people think of Disney they think of Mickey Mouse or Cinderella’s Castle but when I think of Disney, I think of the many culinary confections it has to offer. If your focus has been on attractions and characters, you may be surprised to find the cornucopia of delectable treats to satisfy any sweet tooth. Follow me as we embark on an adventure to explore some of the many options! All Star Sports I, for one, love eating raw cookie dough even though it comes with some pretty hefty health risks. Luckily, All-Star Sports now has edible chocolate chip cookie dough! Bring a date to share this treat as it’s quite sweet. Beaches and Cream Soda Shop You’ve seen the pictures of the mason jars overflowing with decadence, Beaches and Cream Soda Shop is the place to find them. They have a variety of shakes, both alcoholic and non, […]

Need a little reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the theme parks? The Waldorf Astoria in Bonnet Creek offers just that. Tucked right inside Disney property, it boasts indulgent relaxation just minutes from the theme parks. My husband and I wanted a quick getaway for the weekend for a little “R and R.” We decided on the Waldorf Astoria and were so glad we did. While the grounds were beautiful, the thing that stood out most to us was the exceptional customer service, from the gentleman checking us in after midnight to the warm and friendly chefs at Oscar’s restaurant. Upon checking in, we were upgraded to a spacious suite with a living room, a gorgeous marble bathroom and a lanai that was perfect for enjoying that first cup of coffee in the morning. Although the décor seemed a bit dated, it gave us exactly what we were looking […]

Heading to Disney and on a budget? Not a problem. I’ve got a few tips and tricks this month that will help your dollar stretch a little farther so you can splurge on the Rose Gold Minnie Mouse Ears you’ve been eyeing. 1. Get a kid’s meal instead of an adult one at the quick service restaurants. Not only are the kid’s meals inexpensive, but they also provide just enough food so that you won’t have leftovers that you either have to throw away or figure out where to store them on your next ride. Plus, it never hurts leaving a little room for a Dole Whip. 2. Bring your own snacks and even lunch into the park. Disney permits a small cooler, no larger than 24” X 15” X 18” which is perfect for some PB and J sandwiches. Other items like apples and trail mix also travel really […]

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, I find it fitting to talk about the charming little French bakery that adorns Disney Springs. After a long afternoon of shopping, or even for a fun little date, Amorette’s Patisserie provides the perfect setting to tantalize the taste buds. While sandwiches aren’t the first thing you think about getting at a French bakery, you absolutely should at Amorette’s. They only have three to choose from, but they are some of the most delicious sandwiches! They have Smoked Turkey on Focaccia, Smoked Ham, also on Focaccia, and a Vegetable Croissant. The first two are both delicious, but it is the Vegetable Croissant that steals the show. I am not a vegetarian at all, but I just couldn’t resist after seeing it in person. It comes on a multi-grain croissant with herb cream cheese spread, zucchini, mushrooms, roasted onions and tomatoes, arugula, spinach and red quinoa. […]

In this month’s blog I’ll be wrapping up creative ways to save for Disney, and with all that Christmas shopping, these tips are sure to come in handy! My first recommendation is using affiliate shopping apps, like Ebates and Ibotta, which give you money back on the purchases you already make by directing you to their sites, before or after your purchase. With Ebates, you head to their website first, and then find the store where you want to shop. It will link you to that store’s website and also tell you what percentage cash back you’ll be getting for that purchase. Once you make your purchase, it will automatically deposit your rebate into your Ebates bank. You’ll then get paid once a quarter via check. Since starting Ebates, I’ve already received $365 back! I’ve been doing it for a year and haven’t found a “catch” yet! Ibotta is a […]
