As much as I enjoy the tradition and nostalgia of long-standing attractions at Walt Disney World, I also enjoy trying something new! Somehow, over the many trips, I missed the opportunity to enjoy, until now! I was planning a girls' weekend at the Food and Wine Festival and stumbled upon information about this hidden gem! I was instantly intrigued! We knew this would certainly be at the top of our list! The entrance is just inside to the right in the Mexico pavilion in Epcot. When we arrived, there was a lengthy line, but after all of our research, we knew it was worth the wait. After being in the line for only a minute or two, we realized we were in the line to get a margarita to go! We then noticed there was a cast member near the entrance, and she was seating guests inside. We were immediately seated! […]

After a busy day of exploring the parks, sometimes it’s nice to take a break with a relaxing dinner, unique drinks and great atmosphere. Jock Lindsey’s Hanger Bar is just the place. Not only does it not take reservations and has a waterfront view, but the menu of eats and drinks are specially themed as the ex-home of Indiana Jones’ side kick. Located in Disney Springs, the family friendly Hanger Bar is for walk-ups only. There are no reservations taken and none needed. While it has a waterfront location, there are plenty of tables inside the building as well as outside on the water. If you’re lucky, you may be able to sit inside the helmet of a scuba diver or sit in the boat that’s on the side of the Hanger Bar that’s lifted above the water. If you are sitting outside, you will be able to take in […]

With all the wonderful kid-friendly dining options at Disney World, why should your family choose to eat at Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Resort? The answer is, for the unique cultural dining experience, of course. You won’t find Disney character dining here, but you will have a dining experience with “character.” From the moment you arrive at the Kidani Village lobby at Animal Kingdom Lodge Resort, you will understand what I mean. As you enter, take a moment to take in all Animal Kingdom Lodge has to offer, you will be in awe of the grand lobby with an African safari-theme. It has an inviting, comfortable, casual, warm, and cozy feel the moment you enter. It tends to be a little quieter than some of the resorts and is the perfect place to unwind. Sanaa serves lunch and dinner offering unique themed dining. African cuisine with an Indian flavor is served. Don’t […]

Looking for a delicious table service meal inside the Magic Kingdom? Look no further than one our family’s favorite restaurants, Tony’s Town Square. Inside this charming trattoria located on Main Street USA, you can enjoy your favorite Italian dishes, steaks and delicious desserts. The theming of the restaurant centers around the Disney animated classic, Lady and the Tramp. In the lobby waiting area, children and grown-up kids can enjoy a few minutes of Lady and the Tramp, which plays constantly on the television. Kids can also color Lady and the Tramp coloring sheets while waiting for their table. The restaurant offers three distinct dining areas. In the main dining room, guests will love the fountain of the canine couple, Lady and Tramp, that is the focal point of the room. The main dining room offers comfortable family seating and is reminiscent of a classic New York City, family-owned, Italian eatery. […]

If you headed to the far-east corners of Asia or have plans to explore the savannas of Africa, you will want to stop in Harambe for a delicious meal with your favorite Disney friends at the Tusker House Restaurant as you explore Disney's Animal Kingdom park. It's Perfect for the Entire Family! This character meal is one of our family's "must-dos" every time we visit Animal Kingdom park. The meal is hosted by Safari Donald Duck and you will find more Disney friends, typically Daisy, Mickey, and Goofy, all dressed up in their Safari outfits there too. We have always found the character interaction at this restaurant to be fantastic and not rushed. The buffet is 1 table service credit on the Disney Dining Plan and advance dining reservations are highly recommended. The Tusker House is a fantastic choice for any family! Their dishes include family favorites, as well as specialty […]

‘Ohana Means “Family” and Families love ‘Ohana' One of my family’s favorite sit-down restaurants at Walt Disney World is ‘Ohana located on the second floor of the beautiful Polynesian Resort, which offers monorail service, with direct access to Magic Kingdom. Please note breakfast and dinner are offered and have a set price and menu. 'Ohana is extremely popular, and reservations are required. Breakfast at ‘Ohana with Lilo and Stitch is a great way to start your day! Enjoy a relaxing breakfast served family style with all-you-care-to-eat offerings of island-style fried potatoes, scrambled eggs, Hawaiian pork sausage, smoked bacon, Mickey-shaped waffles and a variety of fresh fruit and breads. Disney characters stop at your family’s table to visit, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Each family gets to take advantage of some quality one-on-one time with their Disney friends. Watch out for Stitch – he likes mischief! Hidden Disney Secret: If […]

Tucked away at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, next to Echo Lake, you’ll find the kitschy 50’s Prime Time Cafe. While this restaurant is easily noticeable, there’s a little hidden gem that not too many notice while walking past. The Tune-In Lounge is a lovely, 50s style, bar/lounge where adults can grab a drink and beat the Florida heat! No reservations are needed for the Tune-In Lounge. Simply belly-up to the bar, and order a beer or a cocktail - or try one of their signature drinks (which change by season). My personal favorite is the ‘Electric Lemonade’ - not only do the ice cubes light up, but the lemonade has an adult twist! Whimsical 50s style decorations adorn the lounge, the living room area, as well as “Dad’s Den”! You can enjoy clips from nostalgic 50s sitcoms on vintage TV’s scattered throughout the room, and sitting above the bar. This […]

Raglan Road, nestled in the middle of the Downtown Disney/Disney Springs shopping and dining area, is one of the most unique and delicious restaurants on property! For those of us who remember Pleasure Island, Raglan Road was one of the first new additions to Pleasure Island when it became more family-friendly in late 2005. Built across from Mannequins, in place of what used to be an ice cream parlor, Raglan Road brought a new era of fine dining to Downtown Disney. Raglan Road is an authentic Irish Pub - and when I say ‘authentic’, I’m not just saying they have shamrocks and shepherd’s pie. What I mean is that every recipe is traditional Irish cuisine, the physical bar in the restaurant was taken out of an authentic pub in Ireland, live traditional music and Irish dancers grace crowds every evening, and beers and liquors traditionally served in Ireland are ready […]

Driving to Disney with Small Children: 4 tips to keep your sanity Every year my husband decides we should live the American dream and drive to Walt Disney World. Even though my opinion differs, this is the choice I usually get talked into. Here are a few of my tipsand tricks that keeps the family happy [most of the time]. 1. On-The-Road Activities: Get them pumped up about the drive, just as much as the destination. To help accomplish this, I bought my children each a plastic tote, to fill with car activities such as stickers, toys and art projects. Then, we let the kids decorate their box to their liking. One of my daughters chose classic Disney characters and the other was creative with Star Wars theming. We went to their room and choose some of their favorite toys that would entertain them for 10 minutes or more: books, magnetic […]

Cruise right in for a memorable meal at Hollywood Studios Sci-Fi Dine-In. This Hollywood sound stage takes you back to the era of drive-ins and sock hops. Your family will enjoy sitting underneath a sky full of your twinkling stars in your “automo-booth or table” as classic black and white science fiction clips and commercials play on the big screen. You will find classic 50’s drive-in foods, such as onion rings, milkshakes (be sure to ask about the milkshake of the day!) and build-your-own burgers, but that’s not all. The menu hosts other memorable dishes, such as New York Strip Steak, Smoked Turkey sandwiches, and St. Louis-style Pork Ribs. Your children will find a wide variety of choices on the kid’s menu, such as popcorn chicken, mac-n-cheese, cheeseburgers, and grilled salmon to just name a few. You’ll want to save room for another milkshake for dessert or perhaps some warm […]
