    Columbia Harbour House {Review}

    1/30/2019 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • If you are looking for a unique quick service location in Magic Kingdom, look no further than Columbia Harbor House. Nestled near the Haunted Mansion and Liberty Square, you will find this New England themed restaurant. This restaurant boasts lots of nautical décor and feels as if you are sitting in a sea side fish house. There is a large fireplace to welcome you inside and the rooms are filled with ship wheels, boats, and nautical paintings. There are two floors to provide ample seating and one of my favorite things about this location, is sitting upstairs. Sometimes this seating area can be less crowded, but the best part is snagging one of the tables by the window for some people watching. The best thing about Columbia Harbor House is the variety of food offered. Of course, they offer some of the typical quick service fare, such as chicken nuggets […]

    Gaston’s Tavern

    3/18/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • Gaston. According to his song, he’s everyone's favorite guy. But better than the man himself is Gaston’s Tavern and it has become one of my favorite Magic Kingdom snacking hideouts since its opening. Gaston’s Tavern is located in Fantasyland in the square centered by Gaston’s statue. It offers snacks as well as light meal options which is perfect when you aren’t hungry enough for a complete quick service meal but want something a little bit more than a light snack. Walking into the restaurant you will first encounter a warm pub atmosphere with wood paneling and barrels filled with LeFou’s Brew. Cozy tables line the far wall where guests make themselves at home. But the hidden gem is the room to the right that brings to life the famous scene in the movie, Beauty and the Beast, where LeFou extols the virtues of Gaston in song. Entering the room you […]

    Top 6 Walt Disney World Patriotic Experiences for the Heart of America

    5/2/2018 • Holidays & Events, Walt Disney World • The name "Disney" is as American as apple pie. Perhaps that is because the company Walt and Roy Disney created was deeply rooted in the values of the American Dream. Here are some of my favorites areas of Walt Disney World where the heart of America shines brightly. American Pavilion, Epcot American Adventure - Narrated by audio-animatronic figures of Ben Franklin and Mark Twain, guests experience various depictions of American life during key moments in American history, including the Revolutionary War and the Great Depression. Voices of America – Save time to enjoy the sounds of these a capella singers in the rotunda of the American Pavilion as they sing American standards (“America the Beautiful) as well as modern Disney classics (“Let It Go”). Liberty Square, Magic Kingdom Liberty Tree Tavern serves up traditional American fare (imagine a full Thanksgiving feast) family-style. After your meal, take note of the six prominent […]

    Main Street Philharmonic – a Disney Classic Performance Not to be Missed

    3/19/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • On a recent visit to the Magic Kingdom, we encountered the Main Street Philharmonic. I will be honest, we have seen countless parades that include them and have often seen them playing along Main Stweet USA, but this was the first time we stopped to enjoy their performance. In fact, we were trying to head to Tomorrowland for our expiring Fastpass. The kids were very engaged listening and watching them perform. They quickly sat down and asked to stay for their performance. We almost even missed our Fastpass, but no one seemed to mind. The Main Street Philharmonic is a 12-piece brass and percussion band. As we were approaching them, they were playing traditional Christmas songs. There were even a couple of small children that were dancing in front of them as they played. In between songs, members of the group would step forward and speak. They would explain what […]

    Disney’s Carousel of Progress

    3/15/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • It's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow..............."  If you are singing along at this point, you are familiar with my favorite classic attraction at Walt Disney World.  While some may walk by this classic attraction, this is a "MUST DO" on every visit to the Magic Kingdom for my family. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress was personally created by Walt Disney for the 1964-65 New York World's Fair.  In 1975, the attraction moved to its current location in Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom.  This nostalgic attraction holds a special place in many people's hearts because it is one of the only attractions at Walt Disney World to have been touched by Walt Disney himself. The Carousel of Progress exemplifies Walt's love of history and progress.  This attraction highlights the industrial advances over the past century and how they have changed everyday living for the American family. While this show does not typically […]

    Fun Ways to Spend a Downtime Day at Walt Disney World

When you plan a vacation, most are intending to take a break from the hustle and bustle of work and routine.  However, we often forget the rest and relaxation part of vacation when visiting Walt Disney World.  There are many options for fun and unique activities to bring the R & R back to your vacation. Spa services: Who doesn’t enjoy a relaxing manicure, pedicure, facial or a massage?  Spa services can be scheduled at Saratoga Springs Resort and the […]

    Yak & Yeti Table Service Restaurant

    4/2/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • One of the best tips for making the most of your time at Walt Disney World is to stay in the parks for your meals.  While there are many great table service selections in Epcot, Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, there are only a handful available in Animal Kingdom.  With the new Pandora expansion, more and more guests are wanting to spend time in Animal Kingdom so a table service meal inside the park is usually the best way to have a meal break without wasting time traveling to another part of Walt Disney World. I'm introducing you to one of my favorite spots to grab a bite to eat - Yak & Yeti! Nestled in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom lies one of the most overlooked restaurants in all of Walt Disney World: The Yak & the Yeti. This restaurant is often overshadowed by Tusker House. However, this […]

    Journey Down the Na’vi River at Pandora

    3/28/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • Nestled in the Valley of the Mo'roa on the moon of Pandora, explorers are invited on a mystic journey down the Na'vi River. At the water's edge, explorers will board small reed boats to begin their journey.  As your travel begins, you are met by a Na'vi warrior, who grants you passage into the rainforest and your eyes are open the wonderment of Pandora. A spectacular bioluminescent rainforest surrounds you as you discover exotic flora and the sounds of Pandoran creatures in the distance.   As the voyage continues, you hear music in the distance and encounter unique creatures, like viperwolf, who seem to be traveling down river with you as you in search of the Na'vi "Shaman of Songs". Finally, you see the Shaman holding a musical ceremony while playing an instrument and singing along.  Her music sends positive energy throughout the rainforest of Pandora.  Na'vi River Journey is one of two new […]

    3/25/2024 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • Flying on the back of a banshee is an important rite of passage for the Na'vi, and now visitors of Pandora: The World of Avatar have a chance to experience the thrill of this journey at Disney's newest attraction, Avatar Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom Park. Deep in the heart of the Valley of Mo’ara, visitors can now climb atop a mountain banshee for a breathtaking, first-person flight over the moon’s amazing landscape, explore the bioluminescent forests, and soar by the Na'vi living among the moon's beautiful flora.  This attraction will immerse your all your senses as you feel the breath of your banshee beneath you, smell the aroma of the foliage of the rainforest and feel the crisp, cool feel of the waters of Mo'ara. The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue

    11/21/2023 • Reviews, Walt Disney World • If you want a different experience, head on over to Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground for a night of entertainment and dinner.  Hoop Dee Doo Review is fun for the whole family.  This show is truly entertaining. You'll love how the entertainers interact with the audience getting everyone engaged in the hand clapping, foot stomping, sing-along fun! Grab your cowboy boots and then kick back and relax! You'll enjoy a non-stop interactive Wild West performance which includes dancing, singing, and hilarious comedy. Your waiter will serve your meal family style while you and your family enjoy the show! The offerings are “finger-lickin' good" and include: all-you-care-to-eat smoked BBQ pork ribs, crispy fried chicken, mashed potatoes, baked beans, salad, seasonal vegetable, delicious cornbread, and amazing strawberry short cake for dessert.   Nonalcoholic beverages are included for the whole family!
