At Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in Orlando, most major attractions have a strict ‘no loose items’ policy - and that encompasses change, wallets, purses of any kind, backpacks, sunglasses, hats, etc. There are a few solutions to this: asking a party member to hold everything while you enjoy the attraction is one solution, but a better one is to utilize Short-Term Lockers. Various locations throughout the theme parks, strategically located close to attractions with these requirements, will house banks of lockers with a digital kiosk. Using the kiosk allows you to ‘rent’ a short-term locker by either using a fingerprint and code or your theme park admission ticket. You will then be assigned a locker for your belongings, which are roughly big enough for a standard-sized backpack. What’s great about these lockers? They are FREE for the first hour, typically. The FREE use of the locker is based […]

Are you looking for a new way to experience Walt Disney World on your next vacation? I’d like to recommend spending a day at Animal Kingdom Lodge. This resort is a destination unto itself with most activities are available to all guests and activities are available from morning until after sunset. You can view the animals on the savanna throughout the day and into the evening hours. There are multiple overlooks of the savannas at both Jambo House and Kidani Village. Guides will teach you about wildlife and the African culture. After sunset, night vision goggles will allow you to see the animals from a new perspective. The String of Memories is a favorite activity of children {and parents} that teaches them about African culture and wildlife conservation in a fun and memorable way. You will receive a unique bead as your reward for completing each activity. If you choose to […]

As many of you know, Florida is quite HOT in the summer. When visiting the area, many families are trying to figure out the best way to CHILL out! On our last day trip to Disney Springs, we stumbled upon one the coolest new FREE things to do for the kids {and adults}! It was the Beat the Heat Dance Party!!! This fun dance party is located at a water fountain area. It's nestled near Once Upon a Toy, the Carousel and Earl of Sandwich! The Beat the Heat Dance party has a live DJ, umbrellas for the parents that need a little shade, hula hoops and water toys and of course WATER!! Spinning the latest hits, the DJ’s keep the party going from 1pm – 5pm {and again in the evening from 6pm – 10pm} all summer long! It reminded me of the Resorts’ pool interactive recreation activities they have […]

During discussions with my clients I often bring up visiting Disney Springs while on vacation. I have uncovered that many Disney first timers were unaware of this not-so-hidden oasis at Disney World. So the homeschool mom in me has put together today’s lesson: Disney Springs 101. Lesson 1: The History behind Disney Springs This area of Disney World opened on March 22, 1975 as Lake Buena Vista Village and was Disney’s first shopping area. The shopping area was actually set up to serve residents who were supposed to be living on Disney property. The plans changed and with that so did the name and purpose of Lake Buena Vista Village. The first name change took place in 1977 to Walt Disney World Village and the idea behind it now was to keep Disney guests on Disney property. With that idea in hand Walt Disney World Village transformed into […]

Experience the Magic of Interactive Activities While the parks and resorts are filled with attractions to visit, shows to watch, and bike and water rentals, there are a lot of interactive activities as well. You can solve mysteries together, find treasure, earn your different wilderness badge or even trade some pins to add to your growing collection. Trade Pins at Walt Disney World Pin Trading is something fun that can be done all over Walt Disney World and with every cast member! It is a fun way to collect unique, special, and fun Disney pins. To begin pin trading, you’ll need something to put your few purchased pins on, such as a Disney lanyard or in a Disney Pin Trading book. Once you have a few pins of your own, you can ask to trade your pin with any Disney Cast Member! A good spot for pin trading is at Magic […]

When you visit Future World in Epcot, be sure to check out Club Cool. It’s located in Innoventions West where you’ll find Epcot’s Character Spot. Club Cool is an air-conditioned store sponsored by Coca-Cola. There are lots of Coca-Cola products to purchase and best of all there is FREE soda to drink. Disney and Coca-Cola have teamed up to offer 8 different flavors from around the world to sample. Sparberry - This raspberry cream-flavored soda has been a favorite in Africa since 1955. It’s also my kids favorite. Give it a try. Inca Kola - This Peruvian favorite offers a sweet, almost bubblegum-like taste. Beverly- a favorite among many for two reasons, it's flavor and it's origin, Italy. Fanta - Fanta started in Europe in the 1950s and is now sold throughout the US in a variety of flavors. Guarana Kuat -This Brazilian drink is flavored with the guarana berry. It’s surprisingly […]
