If you love grilled food and are hoping for a great one during your next Universal Orlando vacation, look no further than Bigfire. Located in Universal Citywalk, Big Fire is home to all things cooked over an open flame, and just a short walk from either of the two theme parks.
My husband and I love a steak, so we knew we had to give this a try on our most recent trip. We were seated upstairs near a faux fireplace. Luckily it didn't give off any real heat as we were hot from the Florida sunshine. We began our meal with the hearth oven baked bread. This bread is served with an herbed butter and peach preserves.
We also tried the wood charred brussels sprouts. I love brussels sprouts and these did not disappoint. They are served over a toasted almond puree which added a nice contrast in texture. For our entrees we had the filet and cowboy ribeye. Steaks are served with grilled baby carrots and smashed potatoes.
We also added a side of the smoked pork mac and cheese. This was like a BBQ mac and cheese, and we loved it. My oldest daughter opted for the Bigfire Cheeseburger. It was huge, and served with Bigfire fries which are more like potato wedges. My younger kids chose mac and cheese and chicken fingers. All kids' meals are served with a choice of fries or fruit. Although the entrees were delicious, I feel the real showstopper was dessert.
The first was a skillet baked chocolate cherry cake with a bourbon ice cream. This was good but very rich.
The clear favorite was the tableside smores. The roasting flame is lit tableside and is surrounded with an assortment of marshmallows (traditional, vanilla, and chocolate), graham crackers, chocolate bars and peanut butter cups. This easily served 4 or 5 people and additional portions can be added for an extra cost. I highly recommend giving Bigfire a try during your next visit.
