If you’re planning a trip to Universal Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort, one land you definitely don’t want to skip is The Isle of Berk. Inspired by the beloved How to Train Your Dragon movies, this incredible land brings Vikings, dragons, and adventure to life in such a fun and immersive way. It truly feels like you’ve stepped right into the world of Berk!
The moment you step into The Isle of Berk, you’re instantly surrounded by giant Viking statues, colorful village buildings, and dragons everywhere you look. It really does feel like you’ve stepped right into Berk.
You might even run into some familiar faces like Hiccup, Astrid, Gobber, and the hilarious twins Ruffnut and Tuffnut.
Within the land you’ll find dining, shopping, three rides, a show, and a playground for little ones. There’s even a meet and greet with Toothless!
Rides
Hiccup’s Wing Gliders - Height Requirement: 40”
I found this to be the smoothest roller coaster in the park, with tons of fun nods to the films. With the lower height requirement, it’s a great choice for younger kids. This was my family’s favorite ride in all of Epic Universe—and even better, our 4-year-old was able to ride it with us!

Dragon Racer’s Rally- Height Requirement: 48”
If you’re prone to motion sickness, this might be one to skip. Riders are strapped into a seat and control their dragon wings themselves as the ride moves them up and down. That means you can make it as thrilling (barrel rolls encouraged!) or as mild as you’d like. One thing to know though—it’s pretty short.
Fyre Drill- No minimum height, but children under 48” must ride with a supervising adult
If you’re visiting on a hot Florida day, this ride will be exactly what you need to cool off. It sits right in the middle of the land, so people walking by can watch as your boat moves along the river.
You can also control how wet you get. Pro tip: If you want a drier ride, avoid the targets with a blue “X” on them!
The Untrainable Dragon Show
Another highlight of the land is The Untrainable Dragon, a spectacular live show featuring stunning effects, music, and—of course—dragons.
This show combines stage performers, large-scale puppetry, and incredible storytelling to create a performance that feels like it came straight out of the movies. It’s definitely a must-see while visiting the Isle of Berk.
Viking Training Camp Playground
If you’re traveling with younger kids, they will absolutely love the Viking Training Camp playground. This massive play area lets kids climb, explore, and burn off energy while feeling like they’re training to become real Viking dragon riders.
There are climbing structures, slides, and interactive areas throughout the playground, making it a perfect break from rides.
We spent hours and hours at this playground. It’s a great way for kids to get their wiggles out—and honestly, it’s just as nice for parents to sit down, relax, and take a little break.
Meet Toothless
One of the most magical moments in the land is the chance to meet Toothless himself.
Meeting this beloved Night Fury dragon is a huge highlight for both kids and adults. It’s one of those photo opportunities that makes your visit to Berk even more special.
One thing to note: Hiccup doesn’t always meet with Toothless—sometimes another Viking will be there instead!

Why Isle of Berk Is Perfect for Families
What makes this land so special is how well it blends thrill rides, entertainment, character interactions, and play areas all in one place.
Kids can climb and explore while parents enjoy the incredible theming and attractions. It’s the kind of place where families can easily spend hours without even realizing how much time has passed.
