Like most savvy shoppers, when I enter I store I head straight for the clearance rack and begin to shuffle through the sales. With a crazed look in my eye, and my creative spirit, I put together outfits and accessories, and I love to brag how much I did not pay for a particular item.
Now with this kind of shopping mentality, one can imagine how put out I am at Walt Disney World. Sales and discounts seem to be an item few and far between. So, here is Disney’s dirty little shopping secret: all their sale and discount items are sold offsite!
I first experienced this secret last summer when I was visiting during Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios. I was talking to lovely local couple at the Hollywood and Vine. They saw I had purchased a coffee tumbler for my husband for $30. They told me, “You know you can buy that at the Disney Outlet Store for less the half off?” —WHAT!?
Sure enough, I traveled to Disney’s Character Warehouse and there was my coffee tumbler for $11. A part of me died a little on the inside, but lesson learned. There was a little bit of everything in the store; including but not limited to: shirts, hats, home décor, past season items, Bandits, shoes, pins, almost everything you would find at Walt Disney World.
There are two locations I would recommend:
Character Warehouse-Orlando Premium Outlet
4969 International Dr., Orlando, FL 32819
Phone: (407) 354-3255
Character Warehouse-Orlando Premium Outlet
Suite 1252, 8200 Vineland Ave., Orlando, FL 32821
Phone: (407) 477-0222
Since learning my lesson last summer, we visit the outlet stores before arriving at Walt Disney World. Don’t get me wrong, we still purchase items in the park to help us remember our time together as a family. But now my inner cheapskate is also satisfied with our Walt Disney World regalia.
