Universal Orlando Resort is home to some of the most popular movie icons, legendary cartoon, literary, and comic characters, as well as unforgettable TV personalities.  Many guests can snap photos with stand up likenesses, take a walk through a set, or travel to a character’s ‘land’ to get closer to them...but how do guests meet characters in Universal Orlando?

Most every character interaction is open and unrestricted. You don’t need a special pass to see your favorite character, nor a return time.  You may, however, be in line for more popular encounters like the X-Men in Islands of Adventure, or the Transformers in Universal Studios (interactive, awesome, really unique), to name a few. Characters usually stay to their ‘land’ (like the Simpsons), while others like Spongebob Squarepants or the Cat in the Hat can be found in their respective younger-guest areas.  Wait times are minimal, and be aware there’s no Express Pass for character meets!

Some characters are available during parades and street dance parties (see Gru and the ‘goils’, Dora and Diego, and others), but not to worry, most characters are ‘free roaming’...and if you catch them out and about, they are more than happy to take a photo with you! Some may be in a hurry to do a show or performance, but are always awesome to at least meet with guests in some capacity.

Character experiences at Universal Orlando Resort expand beyond the parks as well into character dining experiences!  Regular and seasonal options are available on select days and times of the week.

Loews Royal Pacific Resort has the ‘Despicable Me’ Character Breakfast. You can read more about it HERE in Julie’s blog!   Over in Islands of Adventure, guests can experience dinner with Marvel Super Heroes at Cafe4.  Halloween Horror Nights boast spooky character dining with Classic Monsters at the Classic Monster Cafe.  And finally, at Christmas time, who better to celebrate a holiday meal with than the Grinch himself!? While these meals are not offered every day, the uniqueness of the encounters and the rarity of them, make it even more special to meet these characters!
