If you are like me, you want shorter lines and more ride time. Universal’s Express Pass is here to give you just that Much like Disney’s FastPass system, the Express Pass allows guests to bypass the regular line and have a much shorter wait for all the best attractions.

What is the Express Pass?*

Universal offers two types of Express Passes:

  • The Standard Express Pass allows guests to use the Express Line one time per attraction per day that their Express ticket is valid.
  • The Unlimited Express Pass provides guests with unlimited use of the Express Line for the duration of the Express Pass.

Unlike Disney’s system, Universal does not give you an hour window for each attraction. You can enter the Express Line any time you like while the attraction is operating.

How do you get it?

The Express option can be added on to any ticket-only purchase, either in advance or at Guest Services at the parks. Express Passes are limited, so it is recommended that you add it to your tickets prior to arrival.

When you purchase an Express Pass as an add-on feature, you are paying per day. This means that if you are spending three days in the parks and want to use the Express Line for all three days, you will have to purchase it for each day.

  • If you are staying on-site at a Universal resort, guests of the Premier and Preferred resorts receive the Unlimited Express Pass with their hotel stay. It is valid on your arrival day and can be used for the duration of your stay, including your departure day.

It is usually less expensive (and much more comfortable of a stay) if you upgrade your resort to include the Unlimited Express Passes instead of staying at a Prime Value resort and then adding on the Express option.

On a recent visit to Universal Orlando, I took advantage of the Unlimited Express Pass. I felt like a VIP walking through the Express Lines. The majority of the wait was the time it took to walk from the attraction entrance to the boarding area. Ten minutes was the average wait time on a very busy Harry Potter Celebration weekend.

If you really want to feel like a VIP, opt for a Private or Non-Private VIP Tour. The VIP tours include Front-of-the- Line Access to all your favorite attractions, special Behind-the-Scenes experiences (including Meet and Greets), reserved seating for shows and parades, and even lunch and dinner are included!

Your Me and the Mouse Travel Planner can go over all the details, comparing tickets, add-ons, and help you understand the benefits included with staying at any of the amazing Universal resort hotels.

* Please note: Express Passes do not include admission to the park. You must have valid park admission in order to use the Express Pass.
