At Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

If you are looking for something literally “off the beaten path” on your next Walt Disney World vacation, your search is over! The Tri-Circle-D Ranch at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is perfect for the younger crowd and is the perfect place for memory making!

Tri-Circle-D at Disney Wilderness ResortBeing a local Floridian people think that we go to Disney every day. I’m sure that if it was up to my daughter we would!  However, in reality, and for the sake of the Magical experience becoming commonplace, we treat every trip like a mini vacation.  We stumbled upon the Tri-Circle-D Ranch on one of our many “staycations”.  My family of five found Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground to be perfect. Our cabin was a great fit for all five of us. Our cabin had a full kitchen and an eating area both inside and outside.  It had it all, from the rustic campground feel to all of the comforts of home.  We have made going to “The Cabins” as my family calls them, an annual tradition.

On one of yearly adventures, after breakfast (at Trail’s End Restaurant), we wandered over to the stables near the entrance of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. There were about five or six mini ponies walking along a path with riders and my daughter fell in love.

Tri-Circle-D at Disney Wilderness ResortWe found out there was only a small fee (currently $8.00 a ride). We were hooked! Now, we can’t pass up the chance to visit the ponies at the Tri-Circle-D Ranch every year we visit! This is one of our favorite places to make memories.

The Tri-Circle-D Ranch is located near Pioneer Hall.  It is perfect for pint sized pony enthusiasts (at least 2 years old and under 80 pounds and under 48 inches). Your child will be able to ride a pony guided by parents or guardians around a fenced path.  The Pony Rides are open daily from 10am – 5pm and you don’t even need a reservation!

In addition, to the pony rides, they also have a state of the art playground for the kids. This is perfect way to keep the kids busy as you wait for your dining reservation. There are many delicious dining locations nearby including Trail’s End Restaurant, Mickey’s Backyard BBQ, and Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue.

“The perfect spot to view the Magic Kingdom Fireworks”… is a very subjective opinion. For those who have seen Wishes before, they might suggest to you, “Why not…”: Main Street by The Plaza Restaurant?  The Hub?  The Rose Garden? Tomorrowland Terrace? Main Street USA near the Train Station?  Liberty Square bridge?  These are all amazing spots…but I’m suggesting you take a different and more adventurous approach to your fireworks viewing experience!

***this is a suggestion for those who have seen the fireworks before, or don’t feel like grabbing a spot early to view them in their entirety***

First, check the times guide to see when the evening Fireworks will be offered the day you will be visiting the Magic Kingdom. “Wishes a Nighttime Spectacular” will be offered until May 11, 2017. Then, starting May 12, 2017, the new show “Happily Ever After” will debut!

Watch Fireworks at Disney
Second, arrange a Fast Pass+ for a time that overlaps evening fireworks for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.  (Or if lines are short that evening, you can hop in line shortly before the fireworks begin.)

Third, mosey over to Frontierland and board Big Thunder Mountain just after they start.

Finally, enjoy fireworks in a way you never have before!  I promise that this experience will change your perspective on the nighttime spectacular!   Over every peak, every drop, a new firework will catch your eye.  It’s serene, surprising…just magical.

Once your “ride in the wilderness” has ended, there are many options to where you can watch the remainder of the show. The docs in Frontierland give a beautiful view or you might even want to take advantage of another attraction in Frontierland, Adventureland or Liberty Square. If the lines are short enough, you might even want to hop back into line at Big Thunder Mountain! {Don’t worry, I won’t judge! That’s where I’d want to be!}

No matter where you are at the Magic Kingdom, or any Walt Disney World theme park, the experience during a fireworks show is something you will remember and treasure forever. They are beautiful, expertly planned, and have something to ‘WOW’ everyone!

I hope this new idea makes your next Magic Kingdom Firework experience a memorable one! If you’d ready to visit the castle again, contact a Me and The Mouse agent. We’d love to take the stress away from your vacation planning.

Ahoy, Mateys!! Are you ready to become a ‘scurvy pirate recruit” and help Captain Jack Sparrow find some hidden treasures? Then you’ve come to the right place.  This free interactive treasure hunt lets you encounter five different pirate adventures within Adventureand.   A Pirate’s Adventure was inspired by the ever popular movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean”.

While in Magic Kingdom, make your way to Adventureland.   You’ll pass the Pirates of the Caribbean ride on your left and head toward the Pirates Adventure Building.  When you enter the building, touch your magic band or park ticket (also known as your Talisman) on the kiosk as indicated on the Pirate Adventure screen.pirate

The screen will walk you through on how to start your pirate adventure.  A Disney cast member is never far away if you need assistance.  Be sure to take the correct map and start at the symbol indicated on your screen.  If you happen to grab the wrong map or start with the wrong symbol, on your first mark you will be told to go to another site.  You can always go back to the Pirates Adventure Building to get assistance.

As you work your way through the different interactive destinations, place your talisman on the symbol to activate the area.  Listen and look closely for the clue to your next destination or maybe you’ve found your treasure.

There are several treasure hunts to go on.  Return to the Pirate Adventure building to activate your talisman and retrieve your new map.  You can take as long as you like to complete each adventure.  When you’re finished, keep the map as a free souvenir.

Fear not Matey’s!! The magic contained in your talisman will help you find the hidden treasure and ensure a folly of fun on your pirate adventure.

animators academy compressed

Did you know that you have an inner Disney animator hidden within you? If you have ever dreamed about creating Disney’s famous characters with your own hands Animator’s Academy is the place for you!

Located in Animator’s Court in Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World, this unique Disney attraction is one that will be remembered forever. Arriving just 10-15 minutes early will allow you to enter the next drawing class. Each class lasts only 20 minutes and is taught by a Disney animator instructor. When you enter the class you will be told what character is to be drawn. Characters are rotated and many options are available. If you are particular about what character you would prefer to draw, ask those waiting with you if they know what drawing will be taught in the next class. Often many Disney fans will keep going into back to back animation classes and the instructors will let you know what character will be in the following class for those that wish to return.

Disney’s instructors are very encouraging. While paper and pencil are provided, no eraser is provided but fear not as the instructions are very clear and each step is walked through at a very reasonable pace. In the end, each drawing in the room is unique and the characters are close replicas of their originals.

Once you have finished your drawing, be sure to stop by the gift shop to ask for an elastic and gift bag to carry your free souvenir during the rest of the day. Once you get home, it will look amazing framed and hanging on your wall as a perfect souvenir from your vacation! Don’t worry about perfection with your art – this is your creation and the memories created on your vacation will shine through each time you view it.

Animator’s Academy is also available at DisneyQuest in Downtown Disney in Florida, Disney’s California Adventure, and on select Disney Cruise Line itineraries.
