Disney Golf: SERIES TWO

Disney Gold Junior Summer Camp 3I hope you are all having a MAGICAL day! I am back and excited to share the second installment of my Walt Disney World® Golf Blog! {You can read the first one, HERE!} As I mentioned in May, Walt Disney World® Golf  is located right on the Disney property across from Disney’s Polynesian and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resorts. There are two championship courses including Disney’s Palm, Disney’s Magnolia, and a 9-hole walking course, Disney’s Oak Trail.  Also across from Disney Springs is their third championship course, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista golf course.

Walt Disney World® Golf has a wide range of activities for your family or groups traveling to Walt Disney World. This month, I am sharing about the great options for kids on the courses for the summer, Disney’s Summer Junior Golf Camps.  This exciting opportunity gives kids ages 7-17 a chance to learn the fundamentals of golf from a PGA instructor.  While this camp might seem like a locals choice, even vacationers can take advantage of the camp while they are in town, as they offer  multiple week long sessions.  Camp runs from June 5th – August 11th, with a break for the July 4th Holiday.  The hours for the camp are 9am – 2pm Monday – Friday. The camps are located at Disney’s Palm, Disney’s Magnolia, and Disney’s Oak Trail courses.  With their camp fee of $350 (per week), campers will receive complimentary lunch and beverages as well as being eligible to win great prizes in the daily contests and games. Your kids are bound to have a blast this summer hitting the greens! It doesn’t matter if they are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Their skills will grow while having a blast!Disney Gold Junior Summer Camp 2

Golf at Disney WorldAnother one of Disney’s best {but one of the most exciting} kept secrets is Walt Disney World® Golf.  It is located right on Disney property across from Disney’s Polynesian and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resorts. There are two championship courses: Disney’s Palm, Disney’s Magnolia, and a 9-hole walking course: Disney’s Oak Trail.  Also across from Disney Springs is their third championship course, Disney’s Lake Buena Vista golf course.  All are an exhilarating yet relaxing way to take a break from the theme parks but still have an amazing time!

As a previous cast member with the Walt Disney World Resort, I had the awesome opportunity to experience all that Disney Golf had to offer! My department even surprised my colleagues and I for Administrative Professionals Week with a morning outing to the courses.  Not only did we get to have a world class tour of the property, but we were able to participate in a quick putt around the green! We even got to head out {on the Mickey golf cart} to the driving range and try our hand on some sweet swings! Golf at Disney World

Walt Disney World® Golf has a wide range of options for your family or groups traveling to Walt Disney World! If you’re looking for a way to get out and enjoy a few rounds of golf – Disney Style – then this is for you!

One More Thing…

Many people associate going to Disney World with visiting the parks, but there is so much to do outside of the parks.  In fact, our family has enjoyed a Disney vacation without ever stepping foot inside a park. It’s also great to build in non-park days to get in a little downtime between park days. There are a variety of activities to experience other than the fabulous pools located at your resort.

  1. Take a stroll around Disney Springs and browse the stores to purchase your souvenirs. One of the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique locations is right in Disney Springs so you can get your little princess ready for one of your princess dining experiences. Or visit Splittsville and enjoy their fun bowling alley and restaurant. Disney Fun Things to do
  2. Take in a round of golf on one of 3 – 18-hole championship courses. If you don’t want to bring your clubs, no problem, clubs and shoes are available to rent with advanced reservations. Or for those that would like to golf with young children, Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course is a 9-hole walking course and is an excellent option.
  3. If taking on a regular golf course isn’t your thing, Disney has a fun, family friendly version of golf with their 2 miniature golf coursesGolf at Walt Disney World
  4. Ride the monorail and resort hop. The Grand Floridian, Contemporary and Polynesian each have unique shops and restaurants. Stay after dinner to watch the Electric Water Pageant Parade on the lagoon or watch fireworks from the Polynesian or Grand Floridian Beach.
  5. The Boardwalk Area – Rent a bike or take a stroll around the Boardwalk/Beach Club area. Disney’s Boardwalk has shops, restaurants, and nightclubs that surround Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk, Beach Club and Yacht Club resorts. It is within walking distance to both Hollywood Studios and Epcot. Spend an evening dining at one of the specialty restaurants then walk the boardwalk to see street performers, food vendors, midway games, or stop in the piano bar for a few tunes. Boardwalk at Disney Springs
  6. If your kids are between the ages of 4 – 12, they can have their own fun while mom and dad have a couple of hours to explore on their own. Disney’s Pirate Adventure is a kids only event. You can select from four different resort locations that take place from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM. They will set sail exploring for hidden treasure and listening to pirate stories. Mom and dad can have a couple of hours for shopping or having a quiet breakfast together.

Spending time at Disney is so much more than visiting the parks. When you talk with your Me and The Mouse Travel Specialist, they will be able to help you build an itinerary to include some of these fun extra experiences.

On our most recent visit to Disney World our family wanted to explore some of the fun outside the parks without spending much for the experience.  I had heard about Winter Summerland, the mini golf courses outside Blizzard Beach.  Since we really enjoy mini golfing we decided that it sounded like fun and boy, were we right!
The story behind this activity is that Santa was flying over one year and decided to make a vacation spot for his elves when they were off-duty.  Since some of the elves enjoyed the warm Florida weather and others missed the comforts of the North Pole they divided the course into two “camps”.  Each course has 18 holes with most of them having “magic” interactive fun.
The ultimate goal is to see Santa’s message on the last hole and have lots of fun and surprises along the way.
Another location for mini golf is Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf courses. This also offers two courses and a fantastic backdrop with Tower of Terror right next door.  Fantasia gardens includes 5 scenes from Fantasia.  Be sure to watch out for those mischievous broomsticks… You may just be surprised by what they can do. The Fairways Miniature Golf Course offers a course just like the grown-ups use only smaller in size. Complete with sand traps,  water hazards, bunkers and sloping greens this course will challenge and entertain even the youngest golf-enthusiast.  Located  between Hollywood Studios and The Swan Resort this is sure to be a family favorite for your next visit to Disney World.
All of these courses are open most days from 10:00 am – 11:00 pm.  What a great way to unwind and make some great memories!
